Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

New Job titles

just had a meeting in which manager told us new title will be visible starting Dec. It's a newly designed job family but i would think there will be little change regarding compensation.

Address your job title Chavez in your new job interviews. I have explained that at WF employees perform job duties outside of the title. In a product owner w/o the PO title for example. The hard part is getting past a job bot to get the interview so don't use your WF title on your resume or change it to fit job you're applying to

Got the same job title I had before it was changed last year. True story. You can’t make this sh-t up. If you tried to sell this story to Hollywood, they would say it is unbelievable that throw you out.

Just keep randomly retitling & rearranging the locations on the deck of the Titanic. That will somehow get our location strategy in gear and also result in an organizational chart which makes sense.

Got it!

What does this topic have to do with layoffs?

@awk

I agree totally, the managers should be communicating more early to people that the new job titles should not AFFECT pay. Effecting pay makes no sense and would leave the most engaged employees wondering what their manager really was trying to communicate.

I was informed that I won't be bonus eligible and will make less with the new job title/profile.

Search teamworks and you'll see the faq they posted for managers. They don't/won't know much more than anyone else until it happens.

@awk+1dTRmtpP, It’s worse than that. Lower level managers heard that the changes shouldn’t affect pay. No further info, we are expected to trust. Yet, we have our own questions based on the new info as of Wednesday. Imagine everything in your group was Oranges associate, sr assoc, officer, manager, sr manager. Now it’s Apples consultant, sr consultant, lead consultant, etc. But the Oranges —> Apples part makes no freakin sense!! We need answers to our own questions before we can explain anything to our teams.

the 10th and 90th percentile are only for guidance in determining TVC. has nothing to do with salary ranges and no, area differentials are not going away and will be very present in workday when that roles out.

Is technology impacted? lol Seriously, Technology went through title changes already so are those happening again?

Midpoints are going away and we only being given a range 10th percentile - 90th percentile of people with your job title last year. Does this mean standardized area differentials are going away? With job families people in NY or SF got 20% more than NC/AZ/MN. Could this actually benefit us in NC/AZ/MN by making it look like we are lower in the range?

Just got out of an HR meeting about this. Regular comp is not changing much. Bonus targets are though.

I would love to know how much it cost to come up with these new ridiculous titles. If I get paid by the word of my new title I will be rollin in the dough!

What are some of the new titles?

I feel sorry for managers who have to tell people the new job titles don't effect pay. Truth is, most managers have no idea what the salary ranges on the new positions are yet (and many are just as concerned for how it will impact their pay, but they're being told to communicate incomplete information even though the enterprise is too scared to do it). While you might not TECHNICALLY be subject to a reduction in base pay as a direct result of these job title changes, this and TVC will ultimately impact everyone's compensation.

I was informed of my new title, and also that it doesn't affect pay. New title is rather lame IMHO.

If there was ever to be a change in compensation associated with a change in job families, rest assured in would not be in our favor.

Good luck to everyone! Over half of our teams' titles were mapped incorrectly (even after reporting it multiple times over the last year), and changes can't happen until Jan (if at all). People who are supposed to be exempt are now non-exempt, and vice versa. And, there is no actual procedure for getting these corrected yet. This has been a poorly run project from the top.
Way to go, Wells Fargo, on making pay even more convoluted so it's harder to identify and be reported for pay discrepancies... What a big win for the c-suite!

new job titles will have associated grades within them and your salary range will based on that level. so while you may have analytics consultant 1-5 in the past, you will probably now have some combination of analytics consultant and sr analytics consultant titles with each having a set of levels such as p1 to p#. on or around Dec 3 employees will get an email from HR and will be able to to view their new job profile. the new pay ranges won't come out until January, you should be able to see your own in early January when we switch to work day, assuming they turn that piece on, but definitely by end of Jan when you have comp discussion with your manager. also, bonus targets have gone away and total variable comp (tvc) is being implemented starting with this cycle. more info will be sent in the coming week but for now HR has instructed all managers to have an informal conversation about these changes and the benefits they bring by Nov 30. for larger team they will probably have team meetings broken up by title and smaller teams is recommended to have 1:1 conversation

Bonus targets are also gone. We were told to expect "about/right at" what we got earlier this year and in the future it's all based on performance and (again) "about" what you received the previous year but no targets at all.

I am not aware of the timeline. I was told each of us will have one on one after new title change. it could be sooner.

Midpoints are going away, so there'll be only salary ranges. But these new ranges apparently won't be communicated until January, from what I heard through the grapevine.
