Does an informal warning come up when seeking other positions?

Recently my manager found out I interviewed for a different position in the bank…a week later I was told I’m given an informal warning for performance even though my performance has been performing and higher then my peers. Is my manager trying to stop me from leaving in an unethical way? Or will the informal not show up during the screening?

if it is truly an "informal" warning, it doesn't go beyond the manager's files - it is not in your HR record and would not be viewable by the recruiter. It doesn't hold you back from interviewing.

You are not required to tell your boss when you apply, or even when you interview, internally. if an opportunity progresses, though, the hiring manager will want to speak with your current manager as a reference, so at some point you do have to let them know.

There is no requirement to inform your manager that your interviewing or applying. It says you should, not you must. It also says if you want your interviews to remain confidential to schedule PTO…

You got a formal warning because per policy you are to inform your manager if you have an internal interview. Look it up if you disagree.

No

But, if you work for a di-k, and they find out, you "will be" a target. It's just how WFB is.

Only a ho-e managers would do that and that's coming from someone who hated to lose great team members but want them to succeed!

File a complaint with HR, and if you don’t hear from them in a timely fashion submit a complaint to the EEOC

You should immediately raise it to HR to at least suspend the mark. There are no coincidences. Accuse your manager of subterfuge.

As soon as my manager found out I was looking around I started getting "Inconsistently Meets" on last two evaluations. When asked about areas to improve all I get in vague responses. I opened a case with human resources because with RTO I may not be able to get another position without moving to another state. No results with HR.

One aspect that might not be common knowledge is that managers can enter and view certain info in talent management. There is a section that is not visible to employees, but it’s where managers can enter in comments regarding talent to move to next level or whether they feel you have reached your peak, etc…Just fyi

If you've been getting Exceeds then your manager might have trouble explaining that.

No.

Also, corrective actions are confidential, so if your peers were also receiving them for dinner performance, you'd never know. Guard against assumptions.
