Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Why bank with Wells

Serious question. Gor those of you still banking with WF after seeing the internal destruction: why would you not shop other banks?

Better apps, better products and better customer support await.

I used to have an account at WFC until recently. There are advantages - mainly a large ATM network - but ultimately I use cash so infrequently, who cares?

I opened an account at a local bank with 5 branches. The website and mobile app look modern and are just more aesthetically pleasing (NO RED). The functionality is identical. Also the web site and app were developed by a local company.

When I had a problem with the app, the phone was answered by someone in a branch who was competent, and NOT IN INDIA.

The negative work experience here drove me away as a customer. Specifically location strategy. Also seeing some of the manual processes that have been allowed to persist....yikes. I'm out.

I used to work in Tech until I got fired.

That’s why I don’t bank here.

I used to bank with WF, but don't anymore. I got tired of getting the "hard sell" treatment every time I walked into the branch (it was across the street from my apartment, so it was convenient).

Later I bought a house. Even though I was an employee and could have got the mortgage discount benefit, WF still wasn't competitive so I got my mortgage elsewhere.

Ironically, WF soon acquired my mortgage. That struck me as odd.

After the housing bubble burst and all the bank exec's took home fat multi-million dollar bonuses while my house went deep underwater (thanks invisible hand of the market!) we left Wells for a credit union, mostly in protest.

Best move every. Did a home improvement loan and an auto loan with them since.

Opened a business account with them this year, working on working for myself soon.

I really can't think of any downside, but not helping a big evil bank is in the plus column.

The employee perks for the accounts are good enough to stay. I understand the website, app, etc, and internal policies better than I would an external bank. Why would I move my accounts while still one of the lucky ones to be employed. If I got laid off, then I'd reevaluate, but not until that happened.

Jamie Dimon, please go back to posting on your own internal site, okay?

Banked with WF since I opened my first account in 1989. Moved all of them to Schwab three years ago.

Still have the WF CC for the interest rate when I need it. The minute I'm not an employee, it'll be closed.

Never had a service issue. App is fine, www site is fine. I generally don't switch services when I am happy with the one I have.

its called switching costs. I continue banking with them because I have been with them too long and it would take too much time and energy to make a change.

I do because it's free as an employee

Online Ally. Online Discover. That’s all anyone needs. I’m grateful to have my job at WFC, but I don’t know why anyone banks here either. I’m guessing most people are busy and don’t want to have to take the time to research a new bank.

My constant theme in our meetings is that WFC should be maximizing service to our customers, not trying to squeeze every last dime out of them. We are lucky, after everything that’s gone down, to have any customers at all. My POV does not make me very popular here lol.

Cos the service I got at BoA was horrific compared to WF. And those are the 2 big banks in my area so it’s between them for convenience
