Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

4 day workweeks

Now is the time for this “rust bucket” of a company to do something innovative and switch to 4, 10 hour day workweeks. 2 days in the office, 2 at home. Reduces a lot of the uncertainty around RTO. If you agree, voice it on loudspeaker and make a difference.

We’re already understaffed working five days. Can’t imagine how bad it would be with our team only working four days.

Many of us had formal 4/10 schedules in Tech; others had 9/80...meaning 9 hours each day and every other Friday off. It was awesome working four days with three days off.

If the team had an on-call rotation schedule to monitor production and an issue occured, we were permitted to work from home if it landed on our Friday off and not expected to drive to the office. Those issues were usually quick to resolve. We couldn't ignore though when on point for the rotation schedule, which only happened every other month or so.

Unfortunately, someone filed a lawsuit in the early 2000s asking for OT on the days they had to work on-call issues even though exempt jobs didn't get OT and suddenly all our flex schedules were canceled. Some people also received a small settlement check automatically. Flex schedules will never be available to us again.

A CEO and OC that fosters a toxic work culture, hates its employees, and is doing everything they can to force attrition would never entertain this.

No thanks. I can barely handle an 8 hour day, no way I can squeeze in 10. I am being 100% serious. I'd be fine with a 32 hour week though.

Can't even get PTO without work related issues coming up... 4 day work weeks would just never be possible with the manager mentality here. Oh, sorry SVB said be sure to take your PTO. Maybe have a European vacation of sorts.

They'd get more mileage from the same number of seats. One less day for many employees to be in the office.

They'd need less property to handle the employees. It's almost like they want to hemorrhage money this way because they think it's cheaper in the long run. Considering how well his "voluntary attrition" panned out, this should be yet another colossal failure in Chainsaw's resume that will be overlooked by the BOD until we're finally carved up enough to be sold off.

Why bother with 4 days? How about it’s up to you when you want to work and how many hours you want to work?

The problem is that banking isn't a 4 days a week business.

What?! Dial it back from 5, 12 hour day workweeks? I don't know what I would do with that extra time on my hands... ;-)
