I am okay with having to wear a mask. I've been wearing one since this whole thing started every time I go out so having it on in the office is not going to bother me. But as somebody mentioned in another thread, the fact that there is a need for a mask is a major red flag and should be a clear indicator that it's too early to even consider RTO. I can't understand why they are so determined to force this despite the risks when everything is working fine as it is.

Grow up, wear a mask when needed, wash your hands, give people some room, get tested as needed, and most of all, get your shots.

Masks enforce compliance, the science is not behind them. They make people feel good, as if they are doing something. Feelings don't count, actual effect does.

200,000+ people working remotely for over 500 days successfully and in the last 9 months, have made this company over $10 BILLION in profit. We should be burning these brick/mortar buildings down at this point and never going back to them. Nobody needs to work in an office anymore.
The thought of going back to the daily commute, trekking into a cubicle warehouse, strapping on a face diaper, and having to 'dress business casual' for customers and co-workers (all across the country) that I'll never see is ridiculous.
I've put in 15+ years with this company, hated most every minute of it, but stuck it out for all the reasons that I won't go into here (security, predictability, stability, benefits, not wanting to disrupt family with change, blah blah blah). But this RTO is going to be terrible. Unassigned seating? The vast majority of people act like sheep and will sit in the same place every single day anwyay, just like they do at Sunday Morning church. This notion that it's going to create all these opportunities for various collaboration/culture benefit are just laughable. People hate being packed in together in office buildings. Soon we will be back to griping about our colleagues because they have bad hygiene, click their fake nails on the keyboard too much, chomp their chips and celery too loudly at lunch, or are 'always shopping during the workday'. I don't miss anything whatsoever about the office. Nothing. And as such, I won't be returning. Just waiting for WF to set my resignation date officially.

If there were a country-wide mask mandate and infection rates subsequently plummeted, you mo--ns would be all, "See? We didn't even NEED masks!"
If there were a county-wide mask mandate that really had no effect on infection rates, the same mo--ns would be all, "See? Masks are useless!" But if you were to dig into the data you'd probably find that there was a low rate of compliance.
Either way, you see that there are people who are selfish and simply don't want to be inconvenienced.
Let's just bring smoking back in the office. It's a personal choice.

@yrq Where I live there is no mask mandate. Unless, of course, I go into the office. So, it makes zero sense for people to strap a piece of cloth on their face the moment they walk into the office, and rip it off the moment they step out. It isn't protecting anyone at that point.
