Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Soon Branches Won’t Be Able To Open!

Virginia is a wreck with branch employees dropping like flies. In the branch I work in we are down to 2 tellers, 1 Banker and our manager. We finally had to shut our lobby as we only had 3 of us working. Everyone keeps calling out and others go on LOA. We can’t get help from other branches in out town as they have fewer team members then we do.

We lost one of our market leaders recently which really has had a huge moral issue in our market. We even had a team member that couldn’t take bereavement due to lack of team members to work in the branch.

I hope I can find something else to do in our community as this is no way to work!

Wow, sounds like one of my prior managers. He and his wife earned a good buck. Had us up to his summer home twice per year, and most of the group made it. I really miss those days. I'll be retiring soon. Sad what has happened to this company. I get so angry sometimes when I think about the deceit that went on in the last years.

Thanks for coming back to me. I really feel for you. It always makes me mad to see the customer-facing employees, and the people who are actually doing the work, getting the short end of the stick.

Same thing is happening in my department. They laid a couple people off, which put us in a small bind, and then others who were on the fence quit. So now we are dangerously short-handed if someone gets sick or wants to take a day off.

I hope it all blows up in leadership’s face.

Best of luck to you and everyone who is still trying to do a good job despite the circumstances.

To the bank branch employees: I know several people who have gone to local Credit Unions and they are loving it. It’s time to blow this popsicle stand.

They want it miserable so you leave and do not have to pay out packages when they start shutting branches down. There are way too many branches, some cities there is are branches within 5-7 mile radius of each other, not to mention mobile is the focus for the future. It is out there on the internet and it has been stated in stockholders meetings. 2021 it states 250 branches will be shut down.

@wdb+1czUioop In my part of the country south of Virginia it’s people leaving, Covid, people and ER allowing). It’s poor senior leadership that is so disconnected from the field and they don’t want to hear the truth-or that’s the perception. There is very low engagement because of how the displacements are being mishandled. It’s back room incompetence-likely from the same reasons mentioned for branches. Problem is the the poor souls in the branches are the one’s getting screamed at, up close and personal, by customers. Senior leadership has put everyone but themselves in really bad situations. Mid level management is exhausted, you can see it wearing them down as well.

Similar situation. I am at a branch in NJ, we r one teller one service manager, 2 bankers and branch manager. And we r “over staffed” compared to our sister branches.. if anyone needs helps, no chance. Even managing lunches in branch is a challenge and customers r always complaining. Haven’t been able to hire new teller after 6 months of trying.. just got 2-3 viable applications..!!

I’m sorry to hear you have unfair work conditions. If you have a good manager - hopefully he/she will “make it up” to the employees, who keep coming in every day, via excellent reviews and much better than expected raises/bonuses.

We used to have a great manager who did that off the books. And he had a very loyal hardworking team. He would come up on a beautiful morning, and tell you to take the the day off “for free”. Or he would take the team out for drinks, invite us over to his house for a steak dinner. He was always very generous, from his own pocket, during the holidays.

Those days seem to be long gone unfortunately because our managers are miserable and fighting for survival too. Or the good ones have already left.

Personally, I think we are seeing the cracks resulting from the unstable and poor leadership at the top. It won’t be long before shareholders, customers and regulators do too.

This is tough. I hope all the employees that are roughing it out and making it through each day, continuing to show up, get rewarded really well. Says a lot about their character.

Just noticed this branch, in Alabama, also closed due to “staffing constraints”.

OP - In your branch, is it a COVID problem (people out sick). Or is it a problem with employees quitting.

If it’s an attrition problem, that is concerning.
