Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Today was the day

It is finally over for me.

I couldnt help but be a little sad as I left the building behind today, over the lost potential of these years.

I see stately buildings with modern facilities and think back on how hopeful I was. It wasnt more than a few months before everyone was getting purged and the interim guy tried to hold it together.

I look at that same building now and I see an empty parking lot and cant help but see that as an allegory for where we are at.

Everyone is hiding, trying not to attract too much attention and I feel like nothing I did will be part of what survives what is coming.

I am letting it go now, and I feel loads better but this will take a bit.

Every human being wants work that matters to justify the expenditure of so much time at a place. I am saddened to say I will miss no one, and have nothing positive to take away, and that is not how I am. I can usually find sometging good in everything

It’s sad that you are walking away with no good memories. The highs out number the lows for me. A slew of terrible vindictive unequal managers and a parasitic management style of fear and incompetence have ruined a lot, for sure.

However, by and large, our individual contributors are mostly outstanding. I have many friends from here. Unless you always worked in a sh1thole like EIW/EDA/DMI and would not know any better, the rest of the company is really not that bad. If you are in that org, get out.

Run your own race, dont worry about this nonsense or what anyone else is doing. Dont wait to be layed off ,control your future, leave on your own terms. Dont let anyone put you in a position you dont want or not aligned with your goals. Too many people here are complacent, like they have given up on life.

Nope, you're not alone. When I walked away I was relieved and looked forward to an exciting new chapter. I never looked back and kept in touch with very few people (real friends). I'm in a much better place now...it was a blessing in disguise.

Well said. Simms op my feelings pretty well. Spent 16 years at WF. Hoped I would retire there. Would up leaving to work at another company, start over because I couldn’t stand what the working environment has become…

Sorry OP! Why did you leave? Displaced or not in a hub?

I’m sure there is something better out there for you. It seems lots of people look back and realize they are better off moving on.

OP You hit the nail on the head for me. Many of us put so much of our time and energy into “trying to get it right” for WFC, our clients, our FAs, our teammates. Trying to make the 1980s technology appear seamless on the front end. Trying to make all the out-of-touch demands and pet projects from “the top” successful without violating our own ethical standards. There’s been some fun along the way too and I’ve make some great friends.

I am proud of the work I’ve done, and the people I’ve helped, but now it all seems like it was a big waste as it is being dismantled and devalued. I do have great empathy for Wells Fargo’s employees and will always stand up for them as long as I’m able to.
