Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

October

Let me be the first to just say it, "OCTOBER will not end well" for so many. Sure, it's just a prediction. But we will know soon enough.

Technology laid off to many already as they are really scrambling there with people overloaded and not too knowledgeable on some tasks they have now they didn’t used to. I can’t see them losing any more people since they can’t function real well as it is.

From the technology side, not aware of more layoffs in Sept or 4Q. That said, we just went through a bunch from Feb-July...If there are more coming, they don't appear to be as pronounced in tech, but elsewhere possibly?

My branch is closing in September and no ones knows if we are getting a severance pay or being sent to other branch. Called HR and they don’t know anything, my manager doesn’t know anything, district manager doesn’t know anything. I get it Wells Fargo doesn’t care about employees, Charlie could care less. I already went through all the stages of grief. It annoys me that I’m still in limbo and who knows when wells will bother to let me know.

Very few layoffs happen in the 4th quarter.

10/20 doesn't help the bank keep from paying severance.

I just researched my own question and you have to be employed on 12/15 to get your match unless you retire or are terminated after you turn 65, have a disability or die.

Working backwards from that, layoffs would have to be before Oct 16th so just a guess but maybe October 14th is a good date.

“The sky is falling…the sky is falling!” Get a grip. A layoff isn’t fatal.

@injb - There are few things I know for sure, but one of them is that Wells Fargo's lawyers are smarter than you when it comes to HR law.

I've not bothered looking it up but if the 401K match is paid in December, does it necessarily follow that if I'm a FTE paying into the 401K and I get laid off in September do I not get the match prorated (75% of the 6% match)? It seems a bit legally sketchy to me that just because I'm not on the books at year end that I'd lose the match for the time I was there. Of course I could be wrong.

October - is that the month when the population reduction kicks in with antibody-dependent reactions? Or does the "October will not end well for many" have something to do with Wells Fargo?

Yeah, October is pretty likely. Whether you want to stay, or go, good luck everyone. We need it!

@1any+1csHiiTb tsk tsk... don't you remember we aren't "team members" anymore. Only refer to us by our preferred terms of employee, colleague or partner. "Team member" isn't as inclusive ya know. Unless you're CS who can refer to us as "teammates" on TV interviews.

I hope anyone reading this can interpret the sarcasm ;-)

Would seem like we could expect at least one big reduction prior to 10/15 so the bank could avoid all the 401k matching in December

Big changes are coming beyond RTO. Charlie's going after pay, bonuses, levels, layoffs, benefits and the list goes on. Team members will think that the spring and summer were the good days.

Last October was supposed to be much bigger than it ended up being, maybe they will finally pick up where they left off.

Updated the wee old resume this weekend. To bigger and better (if necessary).

Like Wells Fargo said, we're not responsible for your career!!! ROFL!
