Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Had an interview with another company

And they are rto in October with no assigned desk space either. Basically said it's first come first serve arrive early. Pretty much the same as here.
Is this the new normal? Some people are slobs and I don't want to use a desk before someone else used it.

I look at it like flying, which I’ve done a few times recently. Yeah, we hear all the PR about disinfecting the cabin between flights yet there’s still cr@p from the previous passenger in the seat back pocket. I gladly take the alcohol wipe the flight attendant hands me, then I wipe down my tray table, armrests, seatbelt buckle, etc. Who wants to have to do this at work every day?? Not me, but I will. At least we’re hearing they’ll provide the supplies even if we have to supply the labor.

Building have benches outside? Sit out there and use wifi. The fresh air will be good for you. A lot of people being shoved back in the office have no peers or manager on site, so it's not like you need to shout at someone a few cubes over. Find a random place to hang/work and call it good.

A bunch of desks with lines to be connected to for communication.

Sounds like an 80's brokerage.

Eat tuna at your desk since the breakrooms will likely be closed. But please just tell me in advance which days you're coming in.

Day 1, go in really gassy and make sure others know it. Day 2 and forward no one will take your spot. Profit with your new permanent spot.

I abhor the idea of someone using my desk. WF is a corporate microcosm of the socialist dream society of the left and they used Covid as the vehicle to institute it. Now in our daily and our work lives. We are all equally low-level duds. People came from other communist countries like Cuba and the old Eastern Blocs to avoid these dictates. Born poor, stay poor, no opportunities to go from rags to riches anymore. We are the students, the teachers get the big desk. Wear your mask and be good boys and girls.

Worthwhile leaders are supposed to lead by example. The best leaders should not ask something of their employees that they are not willing to do themselves.

I’ll RTO and switch my desk every day as long as our CEO and his buddies are willing to do the same.

No more sad than some loser who criticizes people he doesn’t know on an anonymous website.

The whole neighborhood concept and "musical chairs" thing is total BS. People are basically being treated like cattle. People like and need stability. They need good work areas to be productive day in and day out. There is enough disruption and change going on that throwing some cocamany seating arrangement to cram as many people in tiny cubes as possible.

And as noted, a lot of people are disgusting slobs. Do I really want to sit in a different place each day with somebody's disgusting keyboard and other surfaces?

A friend of mine works in the same type of environment. He said everyone sits in the same seat everyday so it's not a huge deal. Hopefully it will work out like that, but I'm guessing that could be an exception rather than the norm.

@ybr you left WF a few MONTHS ago, but you still post here? Sounds like your life is still sad even after leaving.

Get out of financial services. Find a small company. I did it a few months ago and it's such a breath of fresh air.

My spouse works at another large financial services company and it’s the same there, too. Perhaps this is the normal (stupid as it is).

You can bring a box and sit on the floor. That is people do at Target and US Bank
