Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Why Wells Fargo wont require vaccination: FEAR of potential liability if the vaccines have a negative effect.

Corporate America, and in particular - Wells Fargo - are EXPERTS in shedding liability.

There is an entire legion of lawyers in San Francisco whose sole purpose is to make sure the bank does not have to pay out any of the banks profits (aka chainsaws personal piggybank) for any bone headed decision.

Everything that happens here is wrapped in 10 layers of legalease to protect the bank from lawsuits.

Covid adds a new wrinkle that has some legal risk for the bank.

If the bank comes out and says "you must be vaccinated, heres $100 if you go get your shot" the bank wont do this.

Why?

Because if you get sick and die your estate sues the bank.

Lawsuits are expensive....and they hit the Efficiency Ratio number, something chainsaw has been constantly telling shareholders he plans to reduce. Lawsuits INCREASE the efficiency ratio, which is counter to his promise made to shareholders.

Go get your vaccine people, but do not be afraid to lie to them that you remain unvaccinated.

They cannot legally verify it either way and they must "accommodate" you, which includes allowing you to continue to work from home, or they must provide you office accommodations and supplies (which you can then sell on ebay) to protect you from others who are vaccinated who might get you sick.

They cannot fire you because you are unvaccinated and object on religious grounds.

Our goal should be to bleed them and make them LESS efficient. The bank wont bat an eye sending your job to India. You shouldn't bat an eye finding novel ways to make business more expensive and less efficient.

Accommodating Unvaccinated Employees
According to the EEOC, federal laws prohibiting discrimination in the workplace “do not prevent an employer from requiring all employees physically entering the workplace to be vaccinated for COVID-19.”

In enacting such a policy, however, the employer must be sure to accommodate employees who may have a disability or sincerely held religious belief that would prevent them from being vaccinated. Such accommodations could include requiring unvaccinated employees to wear masks, practice social distancing in the workplace, or have the opportunity to work remotely.

While a company may require employees to be vaccinated, some employers may not feel comfortable instituting this kind of policy for a variety of reasons, including but not limited to morale issues, possible employee resignations, or fear of potential liability if the vaccines have a negative effect.

they don't have to require vaccination but they can get on the bandwagon of the other companies that are going to make those people who don't get vaccinations pay higher medical premiums, make them wear masks, etc. they can also make it such that if you're found to have lied about your vaccination status (eg. to avoid wearing a mask), you will be fired and your bonus be clawed back.

so yeah, they probably won't require it but they can make it costly or difficult if you don't. which, i happily support.

You really think that given their hostility to force attrition they’re going to hold off on mandating a vaccine because it’d force resignations?

Get real, a mass exodus of the most ignorant people in the bank could not be a bigger gift to Charlie and his expense ratio. Same with the faulty reasoning about the imagined liability of an “experimental” vaccine vs the real liability of allowing the unvaccinated back.

Lol just face it- you guys are screwed. This is happening, corporations are mandating vaccinations, they CAN verify your status, and religious exemptions dont hold water. You guys are paranoid about everything, but need to face the facts- they’re coming for you.

Pfizer is very close to full approval now, so expected to be in coming weeks. Once this happens means it is ok unless you get some medical reason you from a medical professional.

Honestly DARPA had created this over 20 years ago so it is not new to treat any virus for the military in biological warfare. These pharmaceutical companies started with that and made some modifications for covid.

I don't think WFC will require vaccination until the FDA fully approves its use, not just the emergency use authorization.

Wrong, you're liable for everything you do. The gov has given big pharma a get out of jail free card. Who does that leave with deep pockets for lawyers to go after? Mmmhmmm.

In any case OP, you seem to be a "heads I win, tails you lose" type of guy. If the company recognizes a risk and attempts to mitigate it, you're unhappy. If they ignore a risk you'd probably be mad for different reasons. Either way, you mad.

They can, and will, require it.

If there are problems with the vaccines that will be the government and pharmaceutical company's issue.
