If you are working 70 hours a week I would say you need to stand up for yourself. Concerns expressed in a constructive manner are not complaints. Offering a solution or alternative approach at that time also helps with support.
Agree no one should be working 70 hours a week, except those at the Executive level. If not your boss showing support and understanding go another route. Up or even diagonal at times is needed to shine a light.

I'm not paid for an hours wage. I am salary. I get paid the same whether I work 40 hours a week or 70 hours a week.

The problem with WFC is my work weeks are now at minimum 60 hours. Layoffs on my team have increased my workload. Layoffs on other teams have made it even worse as I'm dealing with EGS more than ever and they are absolutely clueless.

Then WFC wants to end WFH so each of my days is 90 minutes long traveling to and from the office?

No, that isn't being entitled. That is an employer changing the job to one far different than I was hired into. I'm not adding 7.5 hours on to my job a week in travel time when I am already well above 40 hours a week.

The work ethic definitely missing from a certain generation, although I submit that Corporate America created their own problems when they stopped holding people accountable when they started offshoring jobs. As a result, they created the expectation that no one will be held accountable and this is the result you get.

Actions have consequences. That is also the reason young people are going into other fields, they saw their tech parents jobs get sent overseas. Corporate American has no one to blame but themselves for not being able to find local talent when they cut down on the visas. The chickens are coming home to roost.

Spoken like someone who is looking for mommy and not an employer. I have no concerns with wanting the best if you are willing to work for it and maybe even sacrifice at times to achieve it. Unfortunately the works "work hard" and "sacrifice" are missing in many of today's workers. Notice I did not say all as I do not just bucket everyone. However as a leader who has watched this closely over the years, you cannot argue with the fact that today's workforce has far more slackers and exploiters that it does hard workers who can be relied on to do their job without entitlement and unrealistic expectations.
Did you even go to college or was that not an option for you ?

Glad you’re not in management. I think your calling is to run a prison - you should check that out.

There is nothing wrong with people wanting all the best that their careers can offer.
The talented will be attracted to the best companies. Companies managed like Wells Fargo, with Charlie at the helm, will eventually only be able to keep mediocre employees who hate their jobs. I’m watching it happen as we speak. It’s increasingly difficult to find anyone who can answer the most basic questions.

Nicely written Kleber.

Good job as head of HR by the way.

In my opinion, there is far more wrong with the general expectations of workers opposed to problems within the company. If you sift through all the trolls and haters comments you basically find that the majority simply need their mommies and not an employer.
The company pays us to work. That's the agreement. We work for an hour. WF pays us for an hours wage. Beyond that you are not Entitled To or Owed anything. This is not a Non Profit business where all the warm and fuzzy outweighs revenue. When did so many people start thinking Corporate America equals a free ride?
