I go everywhere but I don’t want to go to work. I send my kids to school but I don’t want to RTO. I drive to all places but I don’t want to drive to work. Who am I???

Driving to work in a car? By yourself? Sounds like heaven (not really). But consider yourself lucky that your commute doesn’t involve first driving to a garage and paying to park, THEN paying to jump on a train where you’re packed like sardines into a rolling petri dish with at least one or two rude savages who don’t cover their faces when sneezing or coughing. Thank goodness masks are required. My work time has expanded to fully fill the commute time. That’ll end immediately when RTO happens.
Here's the thing I don't get about this RTO idea...
I'm one of the most productive members of my team, I cover when other people are out, I always volunteer to help, I work the oddest shift nobody else wants (which is part of the reason the hiring manager made me FT WFH), I've given up multiple days of my life for this company, and I'm actually a fair chunk below MRP because I've managed to make some significant career jumps while here and got the BS 10% guideline applied. I also probably spend less time engaged at my computer than any of my coworkers, especially the ones that are less productive.
Yet because metrics show that I'm barely moving my mouse and typing on my keyboard during the week, some id--t kid who got legacy accepted into an Ivy League school and bought an MBA, is looking at a spreadsheet to divine that I'm a horrible employee who wastes company time.
Never mind that I'm extremely efficient, rarely make mistakes, get great feedback from peers, and was a consistent exceeds before forced ranking.
So this company is going to take a happy, productive, reliable employee and turn me into a resentful, disloyal, apathetic employee. All over what chair my a-s is located in while I'm logged into their network.

I don’t know what kind of F’d up LOB you work in, but I average 4-5 conference calls a day, and that almost NEVER happens.
another fun thing to do when WFH, is to attend a charlie scharf townhall and doing a shot every time he says 'um'.
Good lord, that day ends poorly.
People dial in to meeting with loud background noises. It is obvious that they are not at home. They don’t want to drive to work but having no problem being out and about anywhere they want. Not too mention so many problem with “logging in” so they are not available for anything too LOL
whatever the excuse.
I find that RTO will interfere with my daydrinking during work hours. but, I'll go in to the office anyway and skype/teams with my co-workers.
it really doesn't matter, I get paid the same either way.
Driving to work and parking is just another way that WF has effectively taken money from me this year. That's why I don't want to go into an office. (I was always WFH so this will be a new expense for me.)
Bonus eligibility/target reduction due to re-mapping of job positions (although that took place last year- the effects will be felt this year)
No 401K match until the end of the year
No 401K amount deposited at the beginning of this year
Now they want me to drive to work and pay expensive parking-at least 20 days a month-so that I can sit on conference calls with my teammates who live no where near me. I no longer have any hope of a promotion because I don't live in one of the "designated" hubs.
That's why I'm frustrated and angry.
The productive should definitely have a choice to WFH
I don’t want to stay at home because of Covid, I want to stay at home because commuting an hour each way and paying to park before working in an office with literally no one else on my team and still having to be on conference calls all day is a waste of time and energy. Nice try though.

I'd say most people are against RTO not because of COVID but because fighting traffic to go into the office just so we can interact virtually with our scattered teams is absolute nonsense and antithetical to the company's alleged environmental commitments.
