I've been trying to leave in earnest for 2 years now. Have had about 25-30 interviews for solid roles I was 100% a fit for.
The concerning part is in 90% of these roles they ended up re-working the scope of the role despite extremely positive feedback from the company and a good understanding of what profitability I could bring to the company.
Wells Fargo is not the only dysfunctional company out there. But it is a big easy target to point to for regulators and critics. After interviewing all this time i can confirm that 90% of American firms have a similar script. The script is: How can we get the most out if a qualified yet gullible employee?
If you show yourself as too capable or too intelligent they won't hire you. If you don't meet the qualifications they won't hire you... So I'm stuck here along with you all and will fight until the bitter end. I wish I could make a clean exit but that doesn't seem likely.
Competition is extremely fierce, the reason being is the stark reality is as I mentioned above, most Americans hate their jobs and good companies are actually few and far in between.
Plus firms are getting cold feet with the Delta variant wreaking havoc. It's going to be a long , cold, dark winter. Best had stock up on firewood and get ready for political jostling with annual reviews coming up and bonuses being revoked etc.
At least we have this forum. All we can do is parry and contest the execution squad mobilized under King Charles VI and avoid getting thrown off the castle and into the moat for as long as we can.
