Is Compliance Strategy and Operations to ki-l Compliance with meetings?

I’ve had 3 1/2 hours of meetings today with these people and 3 power points decks and I’m still totally unclear what it is they exactly need me to do

Risk and Compliance P&Ps never have matched what is actually done day to day. There are way too many "decks" put out by Complaince and Risk that conflict with P&P and you are right the SMEs don't know how to direct stakeholders on how to perform certain functions. A real change management issue in risk. CS&O staff provide different advice than enterprise risk on the same question.

People on the calls I’m on do speak up and ask questions. The answers are what gets confusing because none of these experts can seem to agree or they say stuff like “normally you do this but this doesn’t work so do this instead”. But that’s not what’s written in the materials or just said so are we supposed to memorize everything that’s said in these meetings? Follow up and use a transcript because a bladder finally exploded from not being able to leave a seat while these people prattle on? At some point the due diligence involved to be able to perform work tasks starts outweighing the work tasks so much that people just give up

What good is speaking up about duplicative processes going to do? All of these people are so invested in their particular projects that they refuse to listen. Really it should be the people at the top running the culture that has allowed this to go on so long who should be asking questions. He-l, if one of them bothered to show up and be a fly on the wall for any of the meetings I was in today, they may start asking questions. Probably hoping for too much though at this point

This is the only bank employer I’ve ever worked for. Is compliance like this at all the banks? Because the market seems really good right now but maybe the fact it’s a cluster is industry wide and not just wells. Do other banks have all these strategy groups ?

@hvo…Pretty sure our top execs can as well and do so on a regular basis. Hang in there you may get a seat on the Operating Committee,

If you didn’t ask/speak up I don’t see why that’s their fault? That’s not a compliance issue btw, happens all over this place. Left hand doesn’t know what right hand is doing. You have duplicative requests with multiple teams working on solving the same thing while most times only a few people truly understand the issue. It’s a hot mess.

We might be having the same day as I am starting to get concerned about the number of hours I have to spend listening to people bicker with each other about how I’m supposed to basically fill out different forms. Takeaway for me is I have no idea how to fill out these forms and I guess I’m gonna have to read the 100s of “resources” available to perform a task that shouldn’t take me five minutes to do

Sounds typical.
