Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

This place is crazy active and I've become one of you weird sickos who checks it twice a day. Who wants to help expand the community?

I think it would be great to get onto Reddit, Discord, or some other community forum. Be honest, watching this trainwreck has become a guilty pleasure for you like so many others. It would be great to keep thelayoff for layoff related discussions and start another community for any other stuff that doesn't fit cleanly like dishing about the latest predictably bad leadership decisions and generally watching the place burn.

Anyone motivated enough to get this off the ground? I don't know much about it so I'm sending the thought into the world. Clearly the demand is there based on page views... Anyone know where to get started and/or want to mod?

Oh, Charlie and HR, nice try.

You want us off this well known site because you're having trouble recruiting fresh blood.

You reap what you sow.

We'll continue to air the dirty laundry and aren't budging. You've controlled employees enough, but not this time.

P*ss off!

I'd absolutely do reddit, with a dedicated, separate reddit account. I think it's a great idea.

I like reddit but there is not a devil's chance I'd get on reddit. I would have to create a whole new account just for the WF sub reddit. Otherwise all of my other posts on other boards could be used to determine my identity. Nope.

I simply don't get your point, as most of the topics you've just mentioned are connected to layoffs. Seems to me you just don't like what other people are discussing, so you'd like to open your own forum board.

@fpy+1cR42bAq As the name of the site is THELAYOFF, I generally want to find that info - don't want to wade through the posts NOT related to layoffs - it is the ONLY reason I come to this site. Sure, it's full of garbage troll posts - but once in a while, you find a gem.

I don't care about RTO, Elizabeth Warren, mid-year reviews discussions, the "should I stay or should I go" threads. I love the SVB AMA threads though! :)

So I would say "yes" to taking the off-topic conversations to some other social platform. And I don't know how the lack of anonymity elsewhere would play out or could you still keep your true identity shadowed.

Anonymity is a tricky thing, people get mean and evil to others when they disagree with them - in a way they would never dream of doing if their name and picture were attached. Sure, we can all disagree, but why get so vile if opinions differ - as they should?

I’m pretty much done with Reddit. Here you may agree or disagree with the rules, but at least that’s what determines what gets deleted. None of the mods work for the company and hence don’t have an ulterior motive to steer the discussion in whichever direction. On Reddit, I’ve been in several subs where mods had a god complex and removed anything that went against their own agenda. To say the discussion was one-sided would be an understatement.
I like this place. It’s anonymous and solidly moderated so the troll activity is mostly limited. That and a good discussion where all sides can be heard (on-topic, of course) is all I need from a forum like this.

I like to come here after a day of soul sucking meetings with overpaid buteaucrats who don’t actually do any work to know that I’m not alone in thinking this place is batsh** crazy

The off topic posts get people fighting and in theory this is a site where every one should be on the same side.

Reddit makes more sense for everything else,

OCD much? Why does it bother you us discussing not strictly layoff related issues here?

This is why Saul continues to sip his coffee on the AMAs - he does it to spite everyone here.

I've been a mod on reddit, they are pretty rigorous. We had to comply a whole set of their ridiculous rules regarding PII and proprietary information.

I'd prefer a subreddit, but https://www.reddit.com/r/wellsfargo is already taken.

The good thing about Reddit is that you can build up reputation there, and someone sharing fake developments wouldn't last long over there due to the upvote/downvote system.

IBM tried to do this on Reddit, there was a sub Reddit called r/IBM, it worked for a while then IBM communication team took it over entirely.

This is already monitored by HR; but for those that are paranoid it’s for sentiments not for specific people..

I for one would go to a Reddit forum or similar for wf though

I'm with @cqt+1cR42bAq. There is a reason we gathered here instead somewhere else. It doesn't require sign in and it's anonymous. I also think discussions on mainstream platforms like Reddit would be more monitored and hushed by HR.

This suspicious person wants to get you on a platform where they connect with you and get you talking and analyze what userid you use and engage in social engineering in order to determine who you are in real life
