Some applications are better in the cloud, some are better on-premise.

We are using a hybrid cloud model. Some apps are already in the cloud. Many more will start migrating next year and following years.

At this time, customer data is not approved to be in a public cloud, but there is an attempt to get that changed.

The lines of business will have the option to use private cloud, or public cloud. Some applications will use both. In times of high utilization, they may burst from private cloud to public could resources or from public cloud resources to private cloud.

All applications will have to be rewritten to support the cloud (private or public).

There is also a shift, that we will be developing less applications in house. The executives want software to be purchased first if available before seeking in house solutions.

They also want to simplify how much software we have. If there are multiple applications that have some of the same functions in different lines of business, they want those same functions offered as one service instead of being duplicated.

There are issues currently that I cannot go into without exposing myself, but the cloud currently isn't working as it should. Some teams around the cloud space aren't acting as they should defeating one of the main advantages of cloud computing.

Again, every time I see this, I am glad I left tech before it went to he-l in a hand basket. It was well on its way back then.

And then you went and hired the failed cio from usaa for that infrastructure mess that was abandoned by the other no mame from ubs.

Whoever made the recommendation for the bank's infra to go to the public cloud should be fired. See https://www.techopedia.com/7-limitations-of-the-public-cloud/2/32351. This proposal is going to put the bank ready for a critical security havoc and it will not be anything less than the February SVDC power outage incident. Pathetic!

Yes Saul, WFC is light-years away from other big banks, what a shame. But in fairness, did you know that WFC has and using cloud for some of its apps?

I don't understand the cloud. If I save an excel spreadsheet on the cloud, is it not on a company server somewhere?

Cloud is a bad idea for sensitive data.

Keeping it in house costs more money, though, if you want to do it right (infosec pros are pricey) so they balance the cost vs. risk.

Everyone once in awhile someone brings their data back in house, but it's rare as far as I know (long time IT guy).

I can work for the cloud folks or the business in house, I really don't care, but I wouldn't outsource (aka cloud) my customer data.

And there are a ton of jobs in the US. What's your point exactly? 30 years in and outsourcing comes as a surprise?

Final point:

Prepare yourselves for the return to office. Vince will be waiting there for you, ready to shake your hands and give you warm hugs.
Legal notice: He may or may not have his mask on (however, he will be outside in front of the entrance) and may or may not be vaccinated.

Published rule is muzzles full time in all facilities regardless of vaccine status

Rules for thee but not for me??

No career for manual testers. Good luck automating a test for a GUI you are seeing for the first time for function you do not understand because poor vendor documentation. Not to mention the difficulty of automating so many different potential tests. Anybody talented enough to automate so many tests would not be working for Wells Fargo in 2021. Even if they were who inherits all this complex automation when they leave for greener pastures?

No wonder this yahoo likes neurodiverse hires so much. "bring in my people".
