So WF wants things to be so painful, they get more "natural" attrition. But the blanket RTo policy is crippling several teams due to recruitment challenges in key areas.
Is anyone else hearing about loosening RTO policy for teams like Tech?

I am in HR, the truth is that it is recruiting is becoming difficult. WF has a bad rep as it is and the lack of flexibility on WFH is making it take longer to fill positions. We are also losing people directly to RTO. We also think once 401K match occurs we will really see a mass exodus.
Leaders know and are freaking out but Senior Leaders don't seem to care.
No Exceptions, that is discrimination. Federal Government needs to ensure every American has the vaccine that is eligible. This will also support Chainsaws plan to get down to 150k, 100k in US, 50k in India
Working from home is no longer an option.

In my LOB, those of us who were 100% WFH pre-COVID and not near a hub have been told to be prepared to spend 3 days a week at a local corporate office, if there is one. In my case, there is a mid-sized corporate office about 20 miles away, so I’m expecting to directed there. Meanwhile there’s no one from my team there, so I’ll be commuting 2 hours a day 3 days a week to do conference calls from a “neighborhood” desk rather than my own desk at home. Makes perfect sense, right?
What happened to all the non-hub people that got relo or leave letters? Can anyone provide inside intelligence or status? They have not heard a word and managers have no clue other than to say "it was paused"
Sure they told us what the RTO policy is but nobody said anything about how the policy will be enforced. Will direct managers review badge swipes or is it head of LOBs? Or HR? And how often, daily or monthly? And what happens to people who are found out of compliance?
If they come down hard on RTO they will see a huge exodus right after bonus. My friends and I have been saving a ton of money so we can quit instead of RTO. Tech is more efficient wfh.
The higher up they are, the more exceptions there will be.
It won’t be for the actual workforce.
Spot on comment about the job marketplace favoring remote work for some roles. Most tech architecture roles are remote (my area). I do know a few colleagues who are eager to RTO for personal reasons, but most are not. We are going to lose a lot of brain trust over this.
Hub cities is yet another schizophrenic move by this company, when it says it wants to save money, like the RTO efforts when the company wants to reduce its carbon footprint.
@ruq LMAO. We can't keep people in hub cities because we don't pay well enough and we pigeonhole them with outdated tech and siloing people in roles.
There will be 'flexibility' when it's needed. If they can't fill roles because the competition allows WFH, they'll adjust accordingly. There's also some roles and legacy FT WFH people that will continue to do that. They keep saying blanket policy, but there's exceptions. Lots of them. Just not for YOU.
If its a key location (IE a hub city) there's no issues with recruitment, especially in tech. If you're in a non hub location, you should worry.
no they're still holding firm on RTO and using core locations for hires
HR better start adapting or the brain drain will be permanent.
We already know it is among executives and BOD.
HR is going slow-very slow.
MTG does too.
I thought they already said tech employees have the flexibility to continue wfh
