Job Search Warnin

Hi All!

I have been watching fake recruiters reach me for large companies. I played around for a bit, but then started taking too much of my time, as most of it nonsense. They are trying to give you skills tests. These come over on LinkedIn.

THings to look for these fake jobs:

  1. Recruiter in large comany (usually financial or cloud) ping you on linkedin
  2. They tell you, you need to go to the office one or two days a week
  3. pay is lower than average or dont say compensation
  4. they come through linkedin
  5. they want you to add verbiage or write ups to add to your resume or separte
  6. they ask you take some d-mb test or similar
  7. they ask you what the 2 new leadership principles are in their organization
  8. they are from your previous company

Be careful, not all are fake, but there are a lot of fake ones or old co workers trying to test you. I was tracking it, but I did not put much effort into these types of things as I am already employed and permanent remote and happy where i am. Nor do I ever go back to a company i left, that is insane. Then when they interview the jobs are not even in the domain you work.

I left Wells, I discussed salary in the first five minutes everytime I talked to a recruiter.

In IT at least, there are wide swings in salaries, and most recruiters have no idea what we do.

I'm not going to waste my time or their going through an interview process for a job I cannot accept.

A recruiter is not a hiring manager.

i had similar issues, the wells fargo old workers, ones that sit here decades not doing a thing, who work here about 30+ years, they sent recruiters over for me to apply. The bait and switch jobs. They were trying to make me look bad and were trying to make me do a lot of extra work with no regard for others. Then they send recruiters over to collect my information. In the future I will have these sign disclosure as they are not authorized to share my information with anyone without checking with me first.

Is this post even real? Companies pay a lot of money for their recruiters to have access to prospective candidates on LinkedIn. The job market is hot, and recruiters are needing to be proactive — doesn’t mean the jobs are fake. Also many recruiters won’t tell you pay range. Only jobs in Colorado require it.

Tests aren’t common but some companies still use them. A big turn off for me, but doesn’t mean the job is fake.

And if someone is asking you to change your resume, may be a contingent recruiter who doesn’t have an exclusive agreement with the company. So they only get paid if they place you and are frantic to do so, before some other recruiter beats them to the punch. Proceed with caution because they couldn’t care less if you are actually a good fit. It’s about volume.

Wait, people are trying to trick Wells people into giving them solutions to their problems?

Go ahead, tell them.

Beat the competition by tricking them into doing the worst possible thing.

OP here, they did not compensate me for my time in the interview and they were phishing for solutions to the technical problems they were having in this. Also they wrote the issues they could not solve they wanted me to do as a fake interview test so they wont have to hire an outside consulting company.

I jotted down fake info as they stiffed me and not pay for my time!!

Will the REAL OP please stand up?

Honestly, no one cares. This is a layoff board and we don’t care about all the drama via LinkedIn. Wanna know how to solve the problem? Don’t respond to random people, you dont know, DMing you. This will also help you from being catfished.

the one above wasnt OP, i am OP; i prob would go to any of these organizations, although taking tests and not having the information up front is a turn off, even any of the last ones if they are the position I am looking for.
