Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Many left to join Tech companies in our field

Quant here. Many talents in quant left for tech companies which offer much higher pay. And on the other hand, we are still laying people off. This is just interesting.

FinTech will eat the bank. Especially with OCC statement on cryptocurrency. If the central bank does its own currency, then who needs a bank. Learn to program. ;)

Well if you want to be in a tech company, don’t go to work at a bank. Anyone who expected otherwise, well, I won’t comment further and embarrass you.

The plural of deadwood is deadwood. The proper usage is "the company still has too much dead wood", not that there are too many dead woods. This drives me absolutely insane; if you're going to be an Asian troll, at least learn the common vernacular so you sound believable.

Smart folks are always going to find opportunity outside of the firm .. Whereas dead woods are just going to sit on your bu*t and get the fat cheque until they can..

Uh, yeah. Because we still have a lot of dead wood. We need to get rid of them so we can afford to pay fewer people more money. Did you know that Google and other banks regularly lay people off? Tech companies do it too to get rid of lower performers just like banks. Grass is always greener.

You're a Quant - surely you can figure out a model to solve for this. It could be bigger than Black-Scholes :)
