Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

WF is feeding of our fear of layoffs

Layoffs were always present at WF. From the day that I started working here up until now every year, we had layoffs in a bigger or a smaller portion, but people were never afraid of layoffs as they are today. Talk of layoffs replaced any other chat between employees and people will accept any amount of work dumped on their back just so they wonćt be next in line to be cut.
Enormous workloads are dropped on employees and they are too scared to say anything. I think the company is creating this culture of fear so employees would do literally anything they are told to do, and when the company “burns them out” they cut them anyway. It's time to leave this shithole.

Exceptions can be made. Sort of like how thousands of employees have continued to work on-site in spite of COVID. Since WFH has been technologically possible, there's been exceptions, in both directions. There may be a LOB-wide approach, but there's never been a company wide approach with no exceptions.

We’ve been told that whatever the policy ends up being for WFH people not near a hub, we will not have a TEAM exception. So it was implied that none on our team should expect an exception, but we were not expressly told that there would be no INDIVIDUAL exceptions. I personally believe that individual exceptions to our LOB plan are highly unlikely. These days, there’s much greater sensitivity to disparate treatment, especially with all the diversity and inclusion scrutiny we’re under. Better to let everyone go than to risk even one person claim to have been let go because of discrimination.

"I suggest anyone not near a hub and who is okay with no more working remotely (phasing it out starting early Sept) to update their resume..."

I agree with 99% of your post, but we need to stop spreading false information. WFH is not being eliminated for all LOBs, and I know it for a fact. Will it be reduced? Yes, but it's not being eliminated, not for all LOBs. As with all policies, there are exceptions.

20 years and this is the worst culture I've experienced. But, remember Charlie's nickname is "Chainsaw Charlie". He's doing what he does best. Research is career and you'll see this is par for the course. I, for one, am not letting it instil fear in me, but rather take control over my own career by bringing my 20 years of experience to another company. I suggest anyone not near a hub and who is okay with no more working remotely (phasing it out starting early Sept) to update their resume, be glad of experience you can bring and apply externally. None of us will change what is happening at WF. But, we all have control of our reactions and ability to apply elsewhere.

It gets worse every month. In my marketing group we are expected to smile and go to rah rah meetings and act excited about where we’re headed.

Working from home it’s doable but once we’re back on-site I don’t know how I’ll be able to fake it convincingly.

Hopefully it won’t come to that. Interviews are happening.

I suggest changing how you think, they do want to drive some fear in you, but only you can allow it to affect you. I do understand its difficult, but if you position yourself right to have another option.

On the flip side of this, maybe this is a sign this is not the place you need to work. Maybe you have bigger goals and more to accomplish than worrying about layoffs and not working on your future. I personally will not allow the company to steal my future nor be in fear of layoffs. I am leaving not due to fear of layoffs but fear time is short and this is not what I am looking for in my future, I want a chance to move up versus only trying to avoid a layoff. Personally that seems like a waste of time and energy worrying about something you cant control which may or may not happen. The bigger issue is it is taking/wasting my time and destroying my future.

A couple days ago there was a post to the Wells Fargo Twitter account with complains and images of a long line at a WF bank branch and only one teller working.

These Chase funkies are hurting customer service NOW and the cuts are not even close to being done.

All they care about is the bonuses for cost savings and their stock. They will be gone before the pain of their stupidity starts costing real money, hurting the future of the business.

yes, this post is 100% right; honestly I have never faced a job this bad in my life; cant believe they operate this way, but look they opened millions of fake accounts too. They lack morals and have zero values and do not follow the law.

30 plus years. This is the worst I have ever seen. Everyone is just a number to this new regime. Branches being cut from 10 bankers down to 2. Top performers being displaced, only to turn around and post their position. Meanwhile, bottom feeders are left untouched. I’ll mind my business, do my thing and wait for my package.

Wells feeds you fear and you take a big bite instead of sp-t it out. It’s your decision, own it

Welcome to corporate America where profit is king. Not sure why it bothers you. Been the same for years. Go work for a smaller company where all you have to worry about is the nepotism.
