Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Tone Deaf

A day after big layoffs WF sends an internal communication with the title "We're Stronger Together".

No one in leadership actually cares about diversity. They care about scoring corporate diversity cool points for PR purposes. That's all it's ever been about, and it explains their actions perfectly. My group is much more 'diverse' than Charlie's, if you want to play their little 'put people in boxes to pit them against each other' game. Funny thing is when you hire the best people you always get a diverse team. So what have you been doing Charles?

Colocation can’t be about diversity, not when so many women and POC in offices have said they find telework to have fewer microaggressions and harassment. If he’s saying that, he’s not looking at the numbers, he’s inventing his own reality. If you want diversity, you don’t ki-l telework.

@cht. I agree, right out of the Trump playbook. I guess that makes sense with Chucky in New York and all.

It was the default Pride month "We're Stronger Together" email. One of their top priorities is "diversity and inclusion". Is the new "thing" for corporate America. To pander to minorities rather than anyone, regardless of minority status, with talent. Is why we have to go back on-site, cuz "Chainsaw Charlie" told us we cannot be "diverse and inclusive" unless we were in-person. And, why every job over a certain salary amount is required to have a "diverse" candidate pool and "diverse" interview panel. So, is no longer about what experience/talent you can bring, but rather how many diversity boxes did you choose. I'm all for diversity and feel everyone should have the opportunity to flourish, but WF blatantly shows they only care about their diversity stats. Forget talent. If you check enough of the boxes, you're hired.
PS - I am a minority who checks a few of the "diversity" boxes and think it's insulting.

The communications team is being led to convey the heartless Enterprise M.O. "Look over there, everything's great! Wells is awesome" - it has been this way for years and has only gotten worse under BR's leadership.

Sad.
