I feel for those who were laid off. I myself - was part of a mass layoff where an entire nationwide sales force, and engineering team was laid off, company-wide, nation-wide. We were invited to a breakfast at a hotel in different cities across the USA (lots of pastries and fruit arrangements) and on a conference call - all were let go. Some new hires were still enroute via travel but were fired before they even started. Its brutal, and its not fair. Its not right, but yet it happens. What can one do, but move on. Its really burned a memory in my mind, as it really was an experience.
This was years ago, but is still apparently true today. Its not you folks, its just what happens. Don't blame yourselves. Don't think you are deficient. That is NOT the case. We are all numbers. That's it. The shareholders, BOD members, executive committee members....they don't know you and don't care. They live in a different world. Scream at the sky if you want, take a break, go for a walk, make plans to move on. Anything else....is futile. Hard, but true. I've lived it.
IMHO.
