It's more than obvious that anybody who joins WFC at this point is using this as a stepping stone for a better job. Meanwhile, I'm at the age where I'm too old to start again and too young to retire, which means that I have to stay here for the foreseeable future, whether I like it or not. Sad for me, but good for those who are using the company. At least somebody is getting something positive out of all this.

that's a sad approach to life. it's never too late do do anything. start own business or go to school. it's all in your mind.
I worked as banker at WF for 10 years. That's longer than anyone should ever put up with such a hot mess. I've never been so glad to leave anywhere in my life.
@kzz+1bo5WWAM I think OP has a nostalgic view about the new hires, their opportunities and changes in the market forces causing the upcoming wild ride. That's my take on his point of view: young kids, plenty of opportunities, project based employment, constant changes, no loyalty or long term careers.

So much drama - best file a complaint with Amnesty International to help combat these human rights abuses or, maybe you could go and work somewhere else.
Wow, the comments on here are just disgusting! I wouldn't envy any new hires coming here, let alone recommend to a single soul to work here. You only need to watch the Netflix Episode Dirty Money where Branch Bankers are on it talking about how they were abused and bullied to understand this isn't a culture that respects or values human beings. It's not the rank and file that are the problem, it's the middle and upper managers who are, refer to the 8 is not great list the OCC published in January 2020 totaling $58M in combined fines for that proof or you can Google it!

Rubbish. Folks who use WF as a "stepping stone" are just responding to changes in corporate America that they didn't cause. Millennials, for example, expect to move around a lot because they watched their parents get laid off during economic downturns. They'd be severely out of touch if they assumed they could join a big company, and stick around until retirement.
Just because some folks like yourself joined Wells with the expectation of staying forever, doesn't mean that's the only "right" path.
Besides, I don't get why you think you'd be better served if new employees stuck around longer. The big challenges -- cost cutting, layoffs, asset cap, low morale -- would still be there, regardless.
I suspect we are probably close to the same age. Wells laid me off, and it took a while (longer than I'd have liked) but I found another job I like a lot. It's possible, but it's a lot of work. My suggestion is, focus less on what a bad hand you've supposedly been dealt, roll up your sleeves and do the work to find a job that leaves you less bitter. It can be done. I've done it.

You sound well balanced - a chip on both shoulders. A lot of people work to live rather than living to work. Maybe you should think of it this way, you go getters have less competition to worry about as your career heads off into the stratosphere.
