At Meetings and Events we work around the clock and are never truly off. But we find time to upskill with serious road trips to test out new venues and amenities. It’s exhausting but we push on.
With one exception, I don’t know anyone here who has been to paid training or a conference in years.
Looks like Pluralsight is great if you're in technology. My team is not.
i've never had a training budget - it's always been for the elite few.....
Yes, requirement to do 40 hours of training yet they no longer cover my CRISC, etc certs.
@1ksg+1bmbmxfw, you are correct. You have to do a gap analysis between your skills and what is expected of you in the real world or what your ideal job requires. Most of the in-house training pertains to existing systems that are proprietary or could be obsolete or irrelevant. You need to upskill and stay ahead of the competition. Find free or open source programs and get the training on line, on your own time.
use a search engine, there's a ton of fantastic free or next to free training. Seriously are you going to limit yourself improvement and education to whatever Charlie lines you up for? Welcome to the real world big boy.
Yes, everyone in tech has training goals. Pluralsight is free, why would we need a budget for free classes?
The Pluralsight stuff has actually been pretty good for interview prep on new tech.
