@szq+1blIWehb that's a good line, but the truth is BYOD software gives them the ability to do it without you even knowing. Is it unethical? He-l yeah it is. But when has WF ever worried about being ethical?

its a regulated industry - there is no right to privacy.....

When WF told me that I would need to turn in my corporate device, they gave the option for BYOD. I read the policy and said no way will I give WF any access to my phone, especially if I were to end up on a Legal Hold due to email or text. Then they would have access to everything including personal stuff. Don't think they wouldn't access that either.

@ckc+1blIWehb for compliance reasons, WF has to demonstrate it is monitoring communications for specific areas of the bank. Don't be surprised if the BYOD software they install is configured to capture text messages. All under the umbrella of making sure WF is compliant with regulations.

I'm interested in seeing how this plays out with BYOD.

I'd tell them they can have it when they present a warrant to search my phone.

How is Wells ensuring retention compliance with business communication conducted over The Layoff forum?

Of course we (and I'm sure Chase does too) take training about how we can't use personal channels to conduct business. This is about capturing business conversation that were done via unapproved channels with regulations that require the bank to save stuff like that in certain situations and for certain time periods.

Seems like a tricky spot. The bank probably has no choice but to make this request to their employees to cover themselves but I sure the heck wouldn't offer them up. Instead I would clear my device, or conveniently upgrade, and if asked say "Nope, I don't have anything business related on my phone to save"

This is a nothing burger. They're required by regulation to track client communications. It's a murky area, but they can at least ask. It's not some Orwellian invasion of privacy.

I wonder what JPMC chats look like...

ETF manager 1: "How's suppression of SLV prices going?"
ETF manager 2: "Switch to the secure line!"

Makes sense, JPM is running one of the largest crime syndicates in history. What year are they not fined billions. Instead of having insane incentives like at WF to open zero balance accounts because 8 is great, they just rig LIBOR and steal billions from everyone. What year are they not fined billions, last year it was Metal Market rigging, what's next year.
