Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Having a nightmare manager like on Horrible Bosses

I have a nightmare manager, a new one, and it has really jolted and motivated me to accelerate my external job search with extreme, extreme urgency. Thank god I have landed some interviews coming up, because I'm out of here as soon as the first decent offer comes my way. This manager is kind that expects you to read their mind, doesn't know how to communicate or lead effectively, is condescending, and doesn't believe in doing one on ones with their people. Very transactional. Nothing is ever their fault either and they are far worse than any others I've reported to here, ever.

I've received feedback that two other TMs have quit recently because of this manager. I may be the third. Everyone feels helpless, because it seems nobody cares, not the higher ups, not HR, not ER, nobody. There is a lack of respect, leadership and communication skills that I picked up on really quickly and other TMs are dealing with it as well. It seems there are no avenues other than to leave and move on, just a like a one sided, abusive marriage, just move on is all you can do.

I truly don't think going to ER, HR or anyone will do a damn bit of good. How do these people get these jobs?! It affects my work performance every single day.

Oh my goodness - do we have the same manager or does Wells Fargo have a knack for hiring awful self centered abusive managers??

Employee Relations is not your ally. They are here to protect the company from YOU. At the first hint of disgruntled employee, they work with mgr to "paper" you out of the company. They WILL eliminate you one way or another.

Not sure if you're dismissing the idea of an internal transfer? I see many posts on this WF site and so many seem to think that outside the company the grass is greener. There are bad managers at plenty of other companies too, as I have found out. The good news is that if you are really set on bailing from WF, there are multitudes of opportunities out there with remote today. I hope you find what you are seeking.

I left late last year too, was the smartest thing I did in my life! I am now in Sr Management at a much bigger bank who has their head on straight. I worked in tech domains, but place full of busy work.

@pic+1bkLWb2T, i left late last year too, the job itself kept you in quicksand with busy work and not moving forward or improving. Its been 6 months for me and I am so happy too now, and making more money with a 40 hour per week schedule.

I never dealt with the few managers I had, as I was a Senior Engineer. Glad to be free from here now and at a much higher level now.

I left the company late last year. Thank God for my terrible manager. She was the reason I started to look for a way out. In hindsight her being so unprofessional, rude, trashy, unable to take ownership for the terrible decisions she made and just plain in over her head,,, it was a blessing.

In six months you’ll look back and be happy.

I work at a very busy branch. Several months ago they laid off the hardest working manager we had. They eleminated her position. Crazy things are happening at the company. I wonder if the high paid people at corporate are aware of whats going on. OR do they even care.

The 2 managers I have right now are a joke, an absolute train wreck. In the past several months we have gone days, even weeks without a manager at all. When a customer request to speak with a manager, its very embarassing to say "we dont have one today". Then the customer will ask "what about tomorrow" & I have to reply "I dont know". We are never told from one day to the next if we have mangement.

I have had discussions with HR & ER on a few occasions & they are not helpful at all!

It’s by design. They want you to quit. Wells wants to cut head count and your boss’s boss is using that manager to take heat off their own ineptness - they’re just fodder. Get out of there. Let them fail.

These are the kind that their boss's keep around because they know how to play the game. They never go anywhere. I had some like that.

"I truly don't think going to ER, HR or anyone will do a damn bit of good..."

So you're saying you haven't gone to any of those groups? If not, what is the "no one cares" comment based on?
