Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

Small business specialist and leadership layoffs

FACT! Verizon is prepping to layoff SMB Specialists and we’ll as leaders in the same org. Leadership is pleading the 5th and staying hush hush about it lying to the front line when asked.

False to the comment below. I am at HQ. You cannot combine indirect and direct employees into one Verizon reporting. You can combine indirect corporate account managers into internal reporting but that is about it. Agent employees don’t have ecodes. Their salesforce is also different. Bottom line, agent employees and agent don’t have to share anything. VZ pays them a commission for their sale. They don’t work for VZ. Then there is coemployment. Do you really think our internal cr---y system can actually handle all the agent employees? This person is just trying stir things up. There are zero facts on what was previously stated.

Putting the word “ FACT! “ in front of a statement doesn’t mean it’s a fact without any other supporting evidence.

Are we to assume all corporate SMB reps are being laid off or just some, and then merging remaining with indirect? Are they still going to have ZIP Codes and support stores or back off from stores completely- what is the timeline

they are going to mass hire part timers with no experience to overthrow the animosity generated by tenured employees used to making a living wage. they want to erase tenured reps from existance.

fat chance on smb specialist layoffs. my district, along w the neighboring one just hired 3 smb specialists. its being touted as a gateway to b2b and the only pivot a retail rep can make to go back to an individual compensation plan as opposed to this terrible team comp plan.

Internal reporting has all been combined with indirect employees. Direct retail stores will continue to close as distribution continues to be pushed to online orders and remodeled indirect stores. Indirect will take the #1 spot in the physical distribution space and the company with make decisions on closing 1 of the 2 “one team” store shift just made June 1st. Moral is way down across both the retail channel employees and with SMB Specialists. Stores are barely being staffed and backfill positions are only being replaced with more dispensable part time roles in preparation for what’s coming. SMB specialists are overworked and underpaid. The business doesn’t have an answer in solving this critical issue. Pulse survey results have a very common theme amongst SMB and Retail employees stating this. The companies best answer is to cut it loose and start over with re-packaged roles in the future. Indirect SMB reps will be asked to carry both their indirect location responsibilities as well as what’s left over of the direct stores once distribution is figured out. FACT! Verizon is actively working to significantly reduce the direct retail workforce to reduce the cost of doing business per customer to match the model of T-Mobile with very few direct sales locations. This will significantly reduce the cost of doing business but will continue to apply pressure of those left to do more with less.
