Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Wells Fargo Branch Employee Appreciation - Read this.

The fact that all across this forum there are people who are afraid of going back into the office, when there have been branch team members who have been customer facing the entire time for the last (almost 2 years now) is insane.

Now, of course the argument here is “Its unsafe! They need to log everyone who has gotten the Covid shot and who hasn’t! It’s to keep us safe!” Yet there have been customer-facing team members who deal with this on a daily basis and have yet to say a word. There are team members who have dealt first hand with customers who haven’t taken the shot, not wearing masks, and have been coughing and sneezing in all of our branches.

There are also some team members who have taken advantage of the companies Covid policy and had a year off 100% paid, just because they were “scared”. Now, I am not speaking about those with a legitimate reason to be out for Covid. I am speaking solely on those who have taken advantage of the system while the rest of us suffered. Keeping us short-staffed inside the branches just because they wanted to be selfish and stay home. I also know several people first-hand who have family doctors who they have been going to for years, who are willingly writing doctors notes so they don’t have to come back…yet just because.

I have witnessed Wells Fargo lay off team members inside of the branches, while fully knowing that their branches are short staffed and have, in a nutshell, told everyone to deal with it.

I have seen Wells Fargo not replace team members who have left, and the ones they are replacing, they cut their hours in half to only hire part timers. I have heard recruiters becoming “backed up”, and having current team members suffer while being short staffed, along with the recruiters themselves.

So, with that being said, while some of you are concerned with catching Covid because of your cubical job and those being vaccinated vs unvaccinated, don’t forget about your customer facing team members inside the branches that have been there since the beginning. Understaffed, overworked, underpaid, and being exposed every single day.

Thank you for being you and being essential. Thank you for being there when myself or others needed to physically go into a branch to handle some business. Thank you for showing up. I appreciate you and I am sorry you have to deal with the work experience you are dealing with. Eventually it will get better.

Uh, that's why corporate employees didnt go for branch jobs. More flexibility and typically better pay.

Because many corporate jobs don't require in-person work, it makes sense these office staff be given more (if not full) opportunity to work remotely.

You chose to work in public-facing branch role. Others didn't.

Pandemic happened. Stop taking it out on office workers that you're in harm's way. We didn't put you there. Find another job instead of whining.

Thank you. Your comments are very appreciated, really made me feel better. We are all stressed in many ways and morale is dead in the branches. Thank you again for your post OP

Yeah I give you credit. Branch banking blows and dealing with the public is mentally exhausting. I did it for 6 years and quit right before COVID. Now I do mortgage underwriting remotely and my quality of life is a million times better. No more suit. Don’t have to be stressing myself out to get to a building at or before 8:30. People are also disgusting, rude and entitled.

This is a good and fair post. I’m one of the people not wanting to be forced back in, but I completely empathize with you. WFC has always treated our bank branch employees like cr-p. I hope your dedication somehow pays off for you, but I’m guessing it won’t occur here, sadly. Good luck and thank you for sharing your thoughts with us.

You're right OP. I'm sorry WF has been so sucky to the customer-facing staff. We have our fair share of complaints on the back end, but all of you have all the COVID hooplah on top of the other BS.
