Power Point Deck Madness

I've never seen an organization that wastes more time and pettiness on Power Point decks. We've spent hours on a simple slide deck for an executive and their direct has picked it apart, obsessing over things that are neither important or relevant. What a complete waste of shareholder monies these people waste and spew on things that add ZERO value to the company, zero!

I have NEVER seen anything like this nonsense. Anywhere, anyhow. These clowns should be shown the door if Chainsaw is interested in rooting out inefficiency and ineffectiveness, start with those near the top of the ranks or one layer beneath it.

Sounds like corporate risk. Old people in senior roles longer than I can count.

I wrote a multi page proposal and they wanted it in PowerPoint. I took a leave instead.

We are reverting to the late 90's early 2000's with the RTO, so why not hold on to PPT decks and other such. Every BI report I've developed, the end user immediately asks for ways to extract the data out of it because despite all the tech supposedly making it a final report, they still want their excel crumbs.

I create online reports only. Key word, ONLINE.
How hard is it for supposedly highly educated tech people to use TECHNOLOGY!
This company is so old school and antiquated.

I thought it was just me. ROFLOL. There is a WF ppt deck about how to create a WF ppt deck and one of the first thing it says is to avoid exactly what they have been producing for ppt decks. BWHAAAAA. I put my laptop on my 40 inch TV and can't read all that font.

A fancy PP with no substance is valued so much more than a simple PP with bullet points that tells you what you need to know.

Sounds like corporate risk. PPTs created to keep track of PPTs that get modified, and each week socialized, picked apart over the next week and then it all starts over again. THIS is where the big waste is!! Most of those PPTs are useless and fall on blind eyes.

Executives and management refuse to read anything other than PowerPoints. If you present the same information on a word document they won't even read it, they'll barely glance at it as if they're allergic to it.

Well said. When i joined 5 years ago i was shocked by the importance of PP decks ultimately i believe the root cause is this is a phifedom and show is more important than creating real value many of the senior execs are in awe of themselves and if you dont get in line to worship them them with PowerPoint decks then they block your success

The cancer that created the sales practice issue and all of the other brand embarrassments including the communication of product sunset of lines of credit still exists
