When I read in between the lines of the return to the office FAQs, if you don't want to have collaboration that is just from casual conversations, Wells Fargo doesn't want you working for the company.

You don't have to read between the lines; it's clearly spelled out in the FAQ's.
[MGR] Where were you
[RTM] collaborating like Charlie wanted me to. It's a company directive on why we aren't allowed to WFH now.
[MGR] For 2 hours when all of your team works elsewhere?
[RTM] "Being in the office will provide you with the opportunity to build community with local Wells Fargo employees, make new connections, and create growth opportunities.... from 6 feet away wearing a mask
Just tell people you work in audit and compliance. Bemoan how boring it is, shrug, and go back to being a tech guy in your cube. No one will come knocking.
Trying to figure this one out...bear with me as it might apply to you as well...
Been WFH since pre-pandemic. Live in a Technology hub and within local-commute (<15 minutes) from a WF office tower. All of my teammates are in the Eastern TZ while I'm in the Central TZ. I might be the only person from my Technology LoB in my location where I'm stuck in a cube farm belonging to primarily a non-Technology LoB. So word gets out on the floor that I'm with Technology. How long before I get the "Can ya fix my computer?"-questions and a short-stack of laptops gets dropped off at my desk with a note from somebody whose name I don't recognize telling me to get them re-imaged...
Aside from that, where the F (hint: rhymes with "truck)" are the opportunities for collaboration? All of my meetings will continue to be Skype/Teams/Zoom, so there goes that point. The only things that I'll be sharing with these folks is coffee from the break room!
Wells Fargo doesn't care if you quit. They don't give a flying fig after they lay you off. Life goes on.

Makes me wonder if it's the same k-cups sitting there since we left 16 months ago - bad coffee or legionnaires disease - take your pick.
The other way to look at it is this: "collaboration around the water cooler" is the perfect excuse for the gaps in production detected on your PC activity report. BSing about the weekend isn't 'on network' and there's no viable way to track it, and it's also exactly what the company is asking for so...
Better put on a tin hat OP. They are going to implement mind control next
Right.
Just don't have too many casual conversations at the water cooler.
