Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Down 17K, 50K to go.

Well, we know the head count in reporting is behind a few thousand from the Q2 reports, but still a long ways to go...

"On top of these cost cuts, the large bank reduced professional services expenses by 14% in the quarter and has made initial progress on cutting the headcount with the employee base down 17,000 from last Q2 to 259,000 at the end of June. As mentioned by analyst Steven Chubak with Wolfe Research on the earnings call, the company has around 50,000 more employees than Bank of America (BAC) that reported similar Q2 revenues of $21.5 billion:

You started to make some real progress, driving some of the headcount reductions that you've spoken to. It sounds about 6% year-on-year, but if I look – comp you against the peer group, BoA probably being the closest comp. You still have 50,000 more employees despite a similar business mix and scale."

@uem+1bTiPCeN - If people over 65 want to work, let them work. Age is just a number and not a barometer of a person's abilities to get the job done.

No no no. When Charlie started we were around 270K. The target is 25 percent reduction. I would focus on a global workforce of around 200-215. We have a far way to go.

If you are needs improvement then you have performance issues. You should get the ax. They should also push out the 65 year olds buying time for social security. The fact you work to such an age is not WF fault but your own.

BOA doesn’t have the asset cap and will appear more efficient. The asset cap needs to be lifted, thanks John Stumpf.

Don’t forget we have some divestitures that will take effect in 3rd/4th quarter. Those people are all considered employee’s at this time.

We don't have 259k anymore. 6/24 was a huge wave and since those unfortunate souls were still in their notice period on 6/30 they are still part of the headcount. I'd guess we have 250-255k.
