If you are sending confidential info over a text message, you’re at risk for firing. Calls they don’t care much about (as those should be internal, with Jabber or a desk phone used for customer contact), but the main monitoring is done in Blackberry Work and the container apps just like they watch your desktop. There’s even location tracking built into those that cannot be turned off.

IMO the attrition that will occur with RTO is just a bonus. Not nearly enough to get to the numbers the board wants. Longer term the bulk of the headcount reduction will come when they sell the buildings they forced you into, or refuse to renew leases for said office space, and then downsize you "because of the building sale". This has been going on for quite a while and what they tell the victims of this tactic is demonstrably false.

Since they removed all the corporate phones and forced us to use our personal cell phones, they can’t be tracking my calls. Work phone calls no longer go thru the corporate systems. Also messaging is being done on personal devices, off the corporate network. So tracking communication that is now on personal devices won’t be done.

Badge tracking has been there for a long time, well over a decade. If your building had badges, it’s all tracked.

The new tracker is Skype/Teams, screen recording software, and all of the “self help tools” that track you at a more minute level. They are monitoring things like how often you move your mouse, the calls you take, the areas of the screen you click on, how long it takes to read an email or respond to an event like an incoming call or email, or how many times your computer falls into idle/away mode each day. It’s all tracked and collected.

They've always done this AND when issued a temp badge on the newer badge systems, they literally link the temp badge to you so that those are logged as well. On top of that, they have the capability and impetus to track at home login vs in office logins.

Yes, per head of tech HR (today) they will be starting in January. Less so before then as groups transition back.

Badge swipes have been monitored for years.

Badge swipes have been heavily monitored since covid. I know numerous people that went into an office without permission and got dinged for it because they did not get approval. I see no reason why this will not continue but in a different form now.

I was told specifically by someone on the RTO planning team: yes. Badge swipes will be tracked.

Not everyone has a schedule. Some just have tasks to complete. Makes it a challenge to write someone up for being "late".

They have been check temps in STL for months. The email came late Friday that that is ending.

Funny as a manager I have never been given a bass report nor sought one.

I have heard they will be checking temperatures at the door, at least at WFA headquarters in St. Louis. So what if there is a long line at traditional start times? Can they ding you for being late?

Badge swipes will be replaced with network log-in locations. The old “swipe in and swipe out” won’t suffice any longer. Tracking where you log into the network is the new thing to know if you’re in office or not.

Wait for that tech/non-tech animosity to show up.

Tech is basically the one area of the bank they can't afford to force everyone into the office. It's 25,000 people (less than IT in EGS) that know almost any alternative employer is going more remote, not less remote. That's why tech only gets "invited" back to the office.

I know a guy whose manager was required to enforce the badge policy pre-covid. Upper management just wanted to be able to say people were showing up in the office, so it was enforced as show up at any hour on the specified days, badge in, badge out, go home and work. If you did it at 11:59 pm one night and again 2 minutes later you were done for the week.

If your job role doesn't include punching a clock or logging into a phone, the attendance policy has a lot more flexibility due to manager interpretation. If you work in the same floor area as a call center, expect a tighter adherence to the attendance policy.

Yes, badge swipes will be tracked. They've said exactly that on calls (ER, Remote CoP, etc.)

If you arrive late, you're written up under reinforced attendance policy, too (applies to exempt and non-exempt).

And don't think about leaving early. All those swipes will now be closely monitored.

The "stick" strategy is to terminate employees for cause and avoid severance/separation pay. This is part of key strategy put in place right before COVID hit. Now it's being employed with a fervor. Gotta' cut headcount to increase stock price and CS bonus!

We have a reservation system on our floor and people would book cubes to make it look like they were in the office. In reality, tons of "empty" cubes.

My team should be interesting. We all work near a hub, but all work from home fulltime and have for a decade plus. Our manager also WFH, but doesn’t live near a hub…. Good luck enforcing the team to an office if he doesn’t have to.

What I can see happening is a group outside of your management chain will look at badge access.

If it were left up to direct report managers and the layer above them, many would not care if you worked from home.

So any auditing of this will probably be done outside your management chain, unless they force direct reporting managers to review and sign off on attendance of their reports.

As long as the door requires a badge in / out they have that. The thing is it gets murky after the first badge in because multiple people could be at a door on a floor. And some building do not need you to swipe to go out.

Plus if you lose your badge and use a temp badge that is via paper. But I am sure that report will show compliance. What will be interesting is when someone comes in sick - will they force them to stay???? If not I guess people will get pretty sick all the time LOL

The nerve of a company requiring you to come into the office to work for them……. Grow the fu-k up people

Are you joking? Have you not figured this place and the top Clowns strategy out yet? They are wanting to drive attrition, which is why they are doing RTO to begin with, requiring people to uproot to hubs, etc. So you betcha they will be looking at badge swipes. Think Kevin Spacey on the movie Horrible Bosses....I see you're 2 minute late..

They want to get rid of people, and they don't give a good and god damned what you think or what bridges they burn.

You can even get a log of your own badge swipes. They do track them and your manager gets a report of it.

Tech and consulting treats their employees well enough to allow remote work, you just have to deliver results. Wells Fargo treats their employees like elementary school kids, the best and brightest will run and the losers will stay because they have no choice, fantastic policy making and incentive structure they have going here. Keep growing the id--t pool.

Yes, as the previous post indicated, managers have been reviewing badge logs for a while for attendance purposes.

They already have veen doing this for some time.. It is one of the ways of determining flex cubes vs permanent ones.
