Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Everyone is rto in September and it's not just Wells Fargo.

Why you people think only Wells Fargo is dragging you into the office after September is beyond me.
I have talked with numerous companies and they're either back already or they're coming back in September.
This wfh wasn't meant to last. It was only temporary.
I think if you're looking to wfh permanently, you should look for remote jobs. They're out there.
For the most part, everyone is opening up in September so you can get mad at Wells all you want. It is what it is.

I was displaced last December and was recently hired by a new financial institution (higher wages and better benefits too!). Their policy is it's your choice. They realize the COVID situation is still in flux so if you feel comfortable enough to return, you can do so but 'you must be vaccinated'. Mask usage is up to you 'if you're vaccinated'. Unvaxxed? Nope! So you can return to the office, do a hybrid version or continue to work from home.

Yeah, I'll just continue to work from home, at WF, thanks. Enjoy the office.

This is the problem with Wells Fargo employees, you can’t handle change. Yes you previously were wfh when you were hired. Since then we have a new ceo and he wants to change to in office work. Period. Done. Either except the change in policy or leave the company. Again period. Stop crying on this site. You are so amazing go find another place to amaze people. It’s that easy.

"Temporary" WFH for some has been 15 years. Stfu. This has been a long standing agreement for high performing employees. Unfortunately, weak management didn't bother to revoke the lazy slugs who took advantage of it and ruined it for all. Kind of like me-h heads force me to get allergy meds from the pharmacist now.

To those who said that those affected "includ[es] workers [who] have worked from home for decades and were originally hired for permanent wfh position," I'd be interested to learn more about that. I've WFH for the last 14 years for WF. I read the FAQ carefully. Two of the questions address this situation and they both basically say "consult with your management."

I have not received any definitive direction that I, someone who doesn't have a place to work and has an approved telecommuting agreement, am returning to the office. DOesn't mean my agreement can't be cancelled and I won't be called in, but those who are saying "everyone has to go back" seem to either make an inference that I haven't or have seen something I've missed.

Comparing WF to other companies that aren't banks is apples and oranges. Highly regulated companies aren't set up for long term remote work for the majority of their employees. It would take up to date regulations, better IT security, and more employee vetting to pull it off. We got a pass due to COVID, along with the rest of the world. But going forward, it's back to what the bank considers less risk.

It's a good point. Semantics that the higher ups don't give an F about, but your can't "Return" to a place you never were in the first place. Should just call it WFH Policy Change, because that's what it really is.

Anyway, it's clear that HR monitors this site. Their FAQ 'addresses' the EXACT things that are discussed here.

That is what some of these people don't seem to get. I have been WFH for 13 years.

The job I was brought into was WFH. It was never an in office position. I have been in office twice during this time period. Once I flew to Charlotte for an orientation. Once I was asked to come in and meet with the department head who was traveling around the country to various locations to meet with other lines of business, so he wanted a one hour meeting.

That's it. I had to park in the visitors' lot. I did not have a badge to enter the office and had to wait at the security desk.

Not all of us are WFH because of the pandemic.

My wife’s company of 18,000 employees recently made the decision to go 100% WFH and they are running like a well oiled machine. Closed all commercial buildings and didn’t renew the leases.

You are correct. I left Wells for another bank. Within days of restrictions being lifted we were expected to return to the office. Right now folks are quietly doing the hybrid thing without explicit permission, but I’m sensing leadership is losing patience. No one has mentioned September, since technically we have already RTO. But that’s when I expect leadership to really bring the hammer down. It’s a shame. But it’s not only Bad Wells Fargo.

Let me help you understand. They are having all workers return to the office, including workers that have worked from home for decades and were originally hired for a permanent wfh position.

I am not mad. I'm glad to have had the opportunity to wfh during the pandemic.
