Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Legacy telecommuting done

We were informed today we will be expected to come into a “hub location” starting in September/October. No details beyond that. We’ve always been a telecommute group. None of us live near the same hub, or work with just clients near us. It makes no sense.

@1wsu+1bQ9hSN3 - right because people who decide to take an experimental vaccine are so much more evolved and have no disgusting personal habits. You precious COVID vaccine wont save you from the season flu which is far more of a ki---r than COVID ever will be. My body my choice... oh wait. Only good news is that people who have the FLU but do not want to take a PTO day now wont be able to come into the office.

FYI some news not from twitter: https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2021/07/second-week-row-covid-19-vaccination-deaths-covid-19-deaths-us-according-cdc-vaers-websites/

@1wsu+1bQ9hSN3 you might want to keep your vaccine insults to yourself in the office where people can sp-t on your keyboard, lick your mouse and cough in your coffee cup. Just sayin

All of you WFH revolutionaries, go for it! Make a stand! I'll grab the popcorn.

All the arguments for or against productivity are a wash. In the end, we work for a bank... a highly regulated entity that already has its share of regulatory issues. For every buck they save by you not being an office, they would spend a multiple trying to adhere to regulatory standards and extra management layers to keep track of which groups can be remote or not. Not worth the headache for them.

I was WFH before Covid and will continue to, or they will have a he-l of an ADA lawsuit on their hands from a whole lot more folks than me. They knew the deal when they hired disabled folks.

As someone said, exceptions.

Careful: No severance for telecommuters having to go to offices within 40 miles from home.

Subject to the “ineligible changes” described in the “Ineligible
changes” section on page 16-6, you may be eligible for salary
continuation pay under the Plan if management changes your
existing position or your position is eliminated and you are
transferred to or offered another position resulting in one of the
following changes:
• A material change in your work location where all of the
following occur:
– The distance between your previous work location and the
new work location exceeds 20 miles (one way).
– The resultant commute (mileage) from home to the new
work location exceeds your commute to the previous work
location (one way).
– The resultant commute from home to the new work location
exceeds 40 miles (one way). Note: Management directed
termination of a telecommuting agreement may qualify as a
substantial position change if the resultant commute from
the employee’s home to the new work location exceeds 40
miles (one way).

The company is HOPING that your productivity drops, it makes the justification to downsize and offshore that much easier. You're not sticking it to the man, you're doing exactly what they want.

Any news about the Frederick Md office? Pre-covid site had 3 buildings with 3 floors. Now WF only has 1 building. Lots of space lost. Guess we will be the next site shut down.

Are we all going to share keyboards, mice, and Skype headsets in the hotel cubes?

Of course we’ll be sharing equipment with unvaccinated mo--ns who don’t wash their hands, cover their coughs, or take sick days when they feel ill. Nothing we can do about it but stock up on alcohol wipes.

My manager has a 9:30-3:30 job, including 90 minute lunches. And she still is not responsive and makes us feel like we’re are burdening her if we email or god forbid call her.
A lazier less self aware manager I have never had. But axe her boss and somehow she is valuable because she be diverse.

The id--ts who decided to go to open office should be fired.

It has been found to reduce communication between employees. The same Harvard study found that it resulted in reduced productivity because energy has to be wasted trying to avoid distractions.

Another study found it increased sick day usage by 62%

I work with confidential information. I don't need some busybody peeking at my screen.

For the past 13 years I have been WFH. If they take that away, I am working 90 minutes less a day to make up for my commute time.

I will be less accommodating responding to people late in the afternoon with an urgent request that will take a couple hours to wrap up. Sorry, I have to drive home so I can be ready for change requests that night.

In otherwords, 90 minutes a day I will be deducting from my current work.

We have a system that works. It is easier to be up and working at 8am from home after finishing a change request implementation and testing the night before at 2am.

There are a lot of us that don't have 8am-5pm jobs. We have 8am-5pm then 8pm-11pm jobs that some times stretch longer into the night.

Wow that really sucks. I have no problem with expecting people who worked on- site pre Covid to return to the office. That was the deal. The party’s over.

But changing the rules after the job has been accepted - that’s just scummy. Sorry for anybody going through that.

I’m in the first group. Never expected WFH to be permanent. Hoping for a package, but not for that reason.

@1agg, not to mention that it's a sever blow to the whole diversity thing they claim they support. But that's just hypocrisy, the real issue is all the talent we're missing out on. We just closed our Syracuse office that had great workers with great skills for relatively low cost. Well, except covid cuomo tried to make them pay us for menstrual leave and extra se-ual harassment training. So the jobs just moved to a place where they treat women like second class citizens and you need to bribe politicians to get anything done.

@bbp+1bQ9hSN3 don't worry; the net loss of employees will be greater than the number of former WFH employees driving to the office. The overall result will be less drivers than before the pandemic.

In marketing people are dreading going back on site because they have gotten so used to double dipping. The new and improved open office designs make it difficult to hide that you’re actually doing work on outside projects. So people will have to work for their own clients on their own time. Heaven forbid.

This new guideline/policy is in direct conflict with WF commitment to reducing carbon emissions and focus on “Green policy”. Why in h-l would this company require people to commute when there is no justification to do so is beyond me. This place is totally going off the rails. I have to stick around due to my age but this place is a s-t show more and more each day.

With everything, there are people who are going to be productive no matter where they are and others who are slugs no matter where they are.

I’ve seen people who crank out product every day all day from their house. The same people had similar productivity in the office, just that they worked less hours due to commute times.

Conversely, there are people who are just lumps and will be whether from home or in the office. They will be less likely to hide it in the office though, those are the ones to be weeded out. Heck just yesterday someone was bragging how they got 15k steps in DURING THE DAY! Because they walk around the yard picking weeds, take a walk around the neighborhood while on a call, etc…. Meanwhile, others multitask getting actual work done while on conference calls.

Chainsaws Chuckles goal is to get you to quit.

Not laid off where he has to pay severance - he wants you to quit on your own.

Here is why....

Attrition will boost chukkies stonk reward schedule.

Chuckkie doesnt care at all about the future of the bank.
Chuckkie doesnt care at all about you.
Chuckkie doesnt care at all about diversity.

Chuckkie has only 1 thing Chukkie cares about:

MONEY.

HIS MONEY.

Cutting expenses (you are an expense) makes stonk go up.

When stonk goes up, Chukkie gets a BIIIIIG bonus.

Once you understand that, everything else begins to make a lot of sense.

Its why he rolls his eyes in diversity distraction stuff (he had to do all this diversity stuff cause his bone headed remarks, and the grilling the banks got in congress...he just doesnt care 1 bit about it, but has to do it cause congress has an ax to grind...)

The shift back to office has nothing to do with the virus and EVERYTHING to do with cutting expensive American jobs and shifting those jobs to India.

Look at what 2 year ago Chukkie was thinking - "I know, hub and spoke - force them to uproot their families and abandon their community to move to expensive big cities..." smiling to himself "That would make them quit for sure....were in the money, micro peenis....were in the money...."

BAM... COVID.... EVERYONE STAY HOME.... Chainsaw: "....but my money...my precious stonk options....waaaaaaaa"

Key takeaway here:

SOCIOPATHS REALLY DONT LIKE IT WHEN THINGS DONT GO THEIR WAY
(ps: Google SOCIOPATH. Chukkie 100% fits the profile....)

I am quite sure over the past year chukkie has laid in bed at night dreaming of ways to speed up attrition....and now he has a NEW plan....

Todays new and more sociopathic Chuck - "I know, in middle of raging pandemic, force them back to office. An intelligent person wont want to return to office and would rather quit than get sick."

(Chucks motivation is to get you to quit so he can move your job to India where someone there is willing to work for less than $20,000 per year. Covid is just an excuse to get you to quit...)

Wells Fargo literally RIGHT NOW has an ARMY of Indians ALREADY HIRED sitting on the bench waiting to take your job. U# is sequential....take the highest number you can think of for U# and put it into outlook and hit CTRL+K.... nearly 90% are indian nationals sitting in india.

But there is a problem....

YOU WONT LEAVE.

And its politically uncomfortable for chuck to just start firing everyone.

Solution?

COVID

This is literally from the playbook from a movie called "The Hunt for Red October".

JACK RYAN:
How is he going to get them off the sub?
They'd have to want to get off.
How do you get a crew to want to get off a submarine?
How do you get them to want to get off a nuclear sub...

CHAINSAW CHUCK:
How are we going to get people to quit?
They'd have to WANT to quit.
How do we get a crew to want to quit a large bank?
How do we get a crew to want to quit a large bank in the middle of a PANDEMIC.....

Watch and see....
