I know multiple people who have been displaced recently. Not one was asked to participate in any form of an exit interview.
This speaks volumes of our poor HR team and three blind mice Operating Committee approach.
What an embarrassment.

When you get laid off they say don’t let the door hit you on the Fanny on the way out. They don’t care what you have to say. You’re just a number and yours was up.
There is no benefit to you in doing and exit interview.
So don't do them. There may actually be a downside for you.
Say thanks on the way out no matter how much you dislike the place and be a pro, but don't waste any of your time with HR.
My manager had 5 direct reports leave in 5 months. These guys/girls were all SMEs and were basically irreplaceable. But she purposely pushed them out. Damn right I filled out to the exit survey. It wasn't just about me.
I never do them anyway. Once I am gone, I don't give a flying fig and neither does the company.
I agree with both sides of the issue for the resource ROI in conducting interviews with angry people and in the lack of closure it provides for those leaving.
I think for me it is more about the missed opposrtunity in innovation and process improvement.
If you want to know why you fail, ask tge people affected by or why have participated in that failure.
HR departments that dont sample their revolving talent pool are missing out on feeding improvements back into the bank.
There’s no point in doing an exit interview for someone being displaced, it’s not like they’re leaving voluntarily and who has the staff to conduct exit interviews when you’re laying off mass numbers? It really is irrelevant given the circumstances.
From a former HR leader...exit interviews provide little to no benefit to the team member that is leaving. The company does not conduct exit interviews just because they are being nice and want ex-employees to feel good, but rather to gather information for their use and advantage.
false. when a company displaces an employee they have a wealth of knowledge about them. performance reviews, etc. an exit interview is not needed, nor would it make sense. if you lay someone off they are not going to speak positive about you. are you d-mb or something?
This place has the worst HR leadership I have ever seen. Minions.
They do not want to hear the truth. They should do exit interviews of people who change roles. They would learn a lot about the incompetent managers they have and the businesses. But HR sucks, so will never happen.
Your final paycheck should suffice for this indiscretion. Get the money and run, before the check bounces!
I voluntarily left several weeks ago and was contacted for an exit interview (from an external company, as a previous poster indicated).
I hear ya Debbie Downer LOL
Running out of good reasons to whine?
“ What an embarrassment.”
Oh, the irony
Why would a displaced (laid off) person get an exit interview? If you voluntarily resign, that's a different matter but most people who get laid off will be disgruntled anyhow so the conversation would be fairly meaningless.
I left a couple weeks ago and was called for an exit interview. An outside company does them. And they even called for it on the 4th of July.
You didn’t really think this one through did you
Why bother? Just walk and don’t look back.
