Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

They lay off a lot but never management?

I am talking about any tier, even the lowest management positions. We had our share of layoffs in the past couple of years, but I never saw any member of the management get cut. They just keep bloating the management while there are fewer and fewer actual employees.
I’m not harboring any illusions that this company cares at all about its employees but it is surprising that the leadership doesn't see (or doesn’t want to see) that this behavior can only bring long-term damage to the company, even a lot sooner than they might think?

Couldn't agree with your post any more than I do. There's people here that seriously think that managers aren't impacted by this and they couldn't be more wrong. It's horrible and long-lasting. We are all in the same boat and under the same axe folks, some just have a different view.

We get stuck delivering horrible messages and trying to make ridiculous strategies work. These destroy the departments and then we have to fix it while dealing with our employees complaining about it.

Yeah we have a job but at what mental cost. It is not all roses, folks.

Just another Troll looking to spread hate and negativity. This post is ridiculous and shows your limited intelligence. I know this site is mostly Trolls and Haters, but there is some value that real people who care are seeking and you are just muddying the waters.

They seem to be quitting more now than getting axed

Not only have plenty of mud-level people managers been laid off, but also leaders with large teams. The CMO, EVPs in marketing, digital, LOBs etc come immediately to mind. If you are not seeing this happen, you are just not paying attention.

Uhhhh my boss got canned. I know of two in IAM world that got canned. At least three first level managers and three snr managers in CIBT. Yes they are getting cut quite a bit too but there are a lot less managers than peons.

My boss is/was a manager and got chit-canned, so it happens.

Have you never heard of spans/layers? I know many many managers that have lost their jobs from that initiative along, but there's been others. When a branch closes, what do you think happens to the branch manager? When outsourcing happens you often lose entire group management teams.
