I recently started in ITV and have never seen so much disorganization. They are so top heavy with senior managers, directors, and senior officers who don't seem to offer much but create more red tape and difficulty for employees actually trying to get the work done and all they do is delay testing and validations that are already late. There is even a business implementation team for the group I'm in who are full of you guessed it, a senior manager and senior officers. They don't do any testing or validations at all and seem to be in charge of sending out emails asking why the reviews are all late. I thought the name of this team was testing and validation? So why is there a support group in a small segmented team? No wonder this company is in the shape it's in.

Former ITV here with 20 years of non Wells Fargo experience. I stayed one year in ITV and couldn’t wait to get out.. ITV is by far the most dysfunctional and poorly run org that I’ve seen in my entire professional life. OP is right. Nothing of value is being created, too many layers of QA, too many deferrals, too much red tape, too many meetings, too much circular talking, too many irrelevant findings, you name it. If there wasn’t a regulatory requirement, there wouldn’t be any justification for its existence. Don’t forget that consumer focused LOBs that were at the center of fake accounts scandals passed internal testing standards year after year. Wondering why….
Control testing robots
@1aez+1bOZrars as someone who left IT&V, I can attest it is a sh1tshow. Documenting worthless pieces of information that have nothing to do with the test subject. Creating hours of meetings across departments for a finding that has no significant value in the grand scheme of things. I sat through several test sharing episodes that had senior level managers and executives across WF. I told my manager it would be more cost effective if the issue materialized and WF paid than to pay all of those people to sit through hours of meetings. Ridiculous and wasteful.
Oh trust me, whrn they darken your door, you will know it.
They are the IRS of Wells and almost as efficient
I suspect most here don’t even know what ITV is, and don’t care.
“We are building something special.” Bahahaha! That’s a real knee sl----r! Thanks I needed a laugh today!!!
@1aez+1bOZrars You must be one of the many overpaid worthless directors in ITV. If you think what PD and his minions are building is best in class, you are sadly mistaken. I have worked in testing for years and this is the most disorganized and dysfunctional group I’ve ever seen.
The front line is a complete joke. Glad you got a job there. Get ready for layoffs buddy.
Glad you left. Bye Felicia
Should’ve stayed in ITV
ITV came recently to test something they just tested . When we pointed this to them they said they needed some paperwork done and that was all! . Finally we asked them to copy and paste their documents from their own system of record (which does not exist). So they took a note saying evidence is available but not kept . All went home happy!
I left IT&V for an internal role that paid a lot more and where I have seen senior management openly roll their eyes at many of our testing engagements. Not because of being tested - which is an essential function - but because the quality of the testing is so bad that were the department not prepared in advance, the testers would probably not know the difference. Best and brightest mmmmkay ….
@1aez+1bOZrars everything ITV does is all theater. Nothing of value is added. The OP hit the nail squarely on the head (which explains your emotional reaction to it). From the time a test is started to when it is finally released as a final, the LOB (with the acquiescence of ITV) has cajoled the the initial report down to meaningless drivel that no longer reflects what the in place practices are.
There is nothing 'independent' in what they do and any 'validation' is meaningless due to time of the start of test to issuance.
This is nonsense. I am familiar with all three lines of defense at Wells Fargo.
Every peer bank has a second line testing function. Building a strong ITV function is standard practice to meet regulator expectations.
I can attest that most of best and brightest are currently in IT&V. Audit has been in disarray for years because they are obsessed with fresh perspectives. The front line has been a mess for years due to lack of standards around talent. The front line is unable to identify and document its own control environment. Huge mess.
IT&V is building a best in class fit for purpose testing function. Get out the way of you don’t want to be here. Please go. We are building something special.
Enjoy audit, the front line, or a competitor that pays less. Please go. Lol
ITV = Independent Testing & Validation.
The testers who test what other testers have already done.
Sounds like nothing’s changed since my ITV days. If you’re a worker bee get out before you start to think the waste and dysfunction is normal. As another poster mentioned, they just promote and retain the same people so don’t bother interviewing for anything higher. Basically either you’ll actually manage to complete a review that will then undergo 1600 layers of useless QA and get picked apart by these teams who would cr-p themselves if they ever had to credibly challenge a business or read a regulation or you’ll have nothing to do for months at a tune while they defer your reviews indefinitely as a result of weekly two hours long scheduling calls, which is all management really does. There’s a lot of bad areas in WF with similar stuff but I’ve never seen any with people leading who are as blindly incompetent and out of touch with their worker bees as in ITV.
Good to know as that was a spot where a lot of my former teammates ended up if they didn’t leave the org.
What is ITV?
A lot of those people came from Internal Audit here or elsewhere, where they also were good at creating Red Tape and bureacracy and not results! The clowns just rotate roles.
Because its a Circle Jerk! Like you said. Checkers, checking the checkers, who then check the checkers. If a checker couldn't check wood, what would a woodchecker do?!
