Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

QA associate laid off and then hired back as Software Engineer in same team?

In technology, few QA associates who were laid off were hired back as Software engineers after couple of weeks in same team to do same testing tasks. I am pretty sure they couldn't upskill in couple of weeks

Does anyone know what is going on?

I know her. Amazingly she was a Teller only 9 months ago. Who knew that Tellers had such a career path.

Considering the hiring process is VERY slow, this was likely in the pipeline for most of 2021. The QA applied early in the year and was finally hired back, likely would have switched jobs had they not been laid off.

Honestly, there isn't much to see here.

If you gave the skills you claim, why would you come back here? This is a dumpster fire and you can make way more elsewhere knowing you wont be laid off or have to suffer the effects of them

That's the only way to get a raise around here.

I can tell you right now, there aren’t any good ole boys as QA associates. QA members have been upskilling for some time, learning code, and automation.

I wouldn’t call it a good ol boys club, so much as the line managers have work they need to get done and they can’t do it if executive leadership keeps slashing payroll.
