I count 8 times that I’ve called off in 40 years, and I’m gone soon to leave a vast ho-e after 2 weeks notice. Get ready millenials…

*” I have been written up for 5, 1 minute tardies. So if I get 3 more I am terminated. ”

“ I quit a month ago. Bravo for your policies I make 4 an hour more with US Bank ”*

You can’t even jeep up with your own incoherent babbling. How do you expect is to understand what you are saying? Do you work here or not?

If you are truly being picked apart for that, then you have done other things to make your manager push this on you. Trust me, just being late by one minute is not the reason, it’s just what they can prove easily. The fact that you haven’t picked up on this after 5 occurrences tells me your manager is on the right path.

2 minute late coming back from break is nitpicking. I have been written up for 5, 1 minute tardies. So if I get 3 more I am terminated.
8 minutes in a 13 month period is what you think is fair? 6Wow. 10 years and now this is what I get to deal with w he n I log in. Its nothing to do with the cyayomet . The time it takes to find thsy 1 minute, send an email or even take me off the phones to discuss it is a waste of time. It's obvious what it's about. It's called discrimination. If you dont think that your employees are not talking on their personal time and when some dont get the point and other do?? I had to go into an a LLP ready processed time sheet to fix time from 902bto 932 as I saw the time to be for lunch when in fact she said it was 901 to 931. The time its takes to sit and watch and make corrections is ridiculous. I asked why and I was told that its considered falsifying time records. Really
Nothing to do with the fact I take fmla though. Be careful, you treat employees like this after 10 years they start to talk. If you dont treat everyone to the same kind of punishment ,you are asking for trouble. Another thing I am sick of hearing about the millions spent on under priveldged communities when he cant look In his own to see how the American dream isn't even7 in reach for those who work for this bank.
Micro managing and being a robot isn't helping the company at all. Tightening the attendance policy during a pandemic and making people feel like they dont do enough is exhausting. I quit a month ago. Bravo for your policies I make 4 an hour more with US Bank where they respect the people who are helping the customer. .

Calling in sick is so badly abused in retail, it’s about time! Get rid of ppl that work the system and are too lazy to come to work on Monday because they partied too hard over the weekend.

Sounds fair. I’ve had 8 call ins in 39 years.

It’s called a job.

I don't doubt there are slackers, but I can't think of a single person in my group of ~30 who I'd consider a slacker.

Most people don’t take one sick day a year let alone four.

It’s not all about you. Someone has to pick up the slack and depending on your role, it may affect customer service. You remember the customers, right? It’s why we have a job.

My first job we had three sick days a year and got a bonus if we took zero. That is long gone in today’s corporate profit motive but the point is this is more generous than that.

Quit being entitled and go to work. You don’t even have to leave the house right now so it’s easier than ever. Be on time too.

To the comment "Wells welfare program is ending. Live with it". I have been here 20+ years and as I see it, the Wells Welfare program is more wide spread than ever. Look around at your coworkers and others in your locations. We have more Welfare cases than ever. What I am talking about is those employees who spend more time socializing, calling out or otherwise spending energy getting out of work and provide no value yet are still collecting a check every two weeks.

Seems very reasonable, to me. What is the alternative? Always schedule one extra person and assume someone will call out? Run with an even slimmer staff, leaving customers standing in line, longer? If you don’t feel that you can be more reliable, maybe look for a job that doesn’t rely on specific levels of staffing during certain hours. There are more flexible careers where it isn’t as critical to follow a strict schedule, but instead you can work when you are available.

It amazes me how the people complaining about the attendance policy don’t just refocus their energy on working to grow the business and advancing their careers. I couldn’t imagine calling out without a care in the world... I would have to cancel multiple client meetings and lose a whole day of productivity. The folks that direct all their energy toward trying get out of work as much as possible are wasting their mental energy completely, and you aren’t gonna reach your career goals long term at WF or any other company for that matter unless you change your mindset.

All companies are transitioning to the same policy, call out 3 or 4 times within 12 months the next one is a verbal. It’s standard across a multitude of corporations, not only WF.

I use my PTO whenever I feel like it. If I wake up in the morning and decide I would rather go fishing, if I have PTO left, I go fishing.

It is part of my compensation and my PTO is automatically approved as soon as I click submit.

If you have a legitimate issue there are accomodations. Anyone pretending otherwise just refuses do what is necessary to be to work on time. Other people are counting on you being there and it's incredibly rude to selfishly say 'to heck with them, I'm talking an unscheduled day off'. Again, if it's legit there ARE accomodations, even for those that don't qualify for FMLA. Some posters here have no idea how much attendance is abused at this company. It's shockingly bad and it's usually not for legitimate reasons. This policy is much to lenient, still, IMO, and I've been an hourly employee that had to work a tight schedule for business needs, probably longer than you. In over a decade in that role I was late on 2 occasions for a grand total of about 15 minutes. People that actually try never, and I mean EVER, get fired for attendance at WF.

Again as it was noted once below. If you have a legitimate medical condition there are programs and laws to protect. This is not what the policy if for. It is for those who call out frequently due to less than honorable reasons. if you are calling out enough to warrant you being placed into the process of Attendance action and you do not have a legitimate medical condition, than you should be accountable as you are not adding value and earning your paycheck. Sounds like more of the "Participation Trophy Generation" chiming in to complain when they can't have something for free or without working for it.

I wonder how many people would still be against a policy like this is they owned the company? How many of you would like it if you owned a company but your employees called out 3 or 4 times every few months.

Manager here.

If you understood how insanely difficult it is to fire someone that is not doing a halfway decent job, you'd appreciate this policy.

If you have kids and they're sick all the time, call EAC and get free time away through accomodations. They'll approve just about anything.

When you aren't at work, other people pick up your slack. If you kid is sick and you don't have backup, I have to wonder if you need to be working in a position where you're responsible for other people's finances.

<--Downvote button is over there. Fire away.

Grrrr how dare people be sick and take a day off that they’ve earned. If you want to not be worked to death go live in any other country in the Western world!

In the last 10 years I’ve called in sick twice. So four times in a year seems more than reasonable.

The only people who can complain about a policy like this are those that are not reliable in the first place. You are the reason there is a policy. Responsible, mature adults don't call out that often. And if there is a legitimate medical issue, then there are multiple programs in place to protect you. Stop complaining and go to work !

Read what my post said

Four separate days in a year could easily be two separate adult sick days and two separate child sick days.

I love “read the policy” guys, you can’t comprehend a four sentence post, but I should believe you know what a policy says.

Read the policy. Being sick for three days in a row is not three occurrences.

Not an issue. No one enforces this unless they are trying to manage someone out.

So if someone has a cold or the flu, you all would like them to come to the office?

To have some type of illness for 4 days in a year would be low, especially when there are children involved.

This is a stupid policy, and it’s part of the mentality that led to 600,000+ COVID deaths. It’s abusive to call out sick until you are the one on chemo.

Some people take advantage of the system.
At another bank, they gave us 12 sick days along with vacation weeks and people took heavily advantage of those sick days. They would max through them and then proceed to the vacation and personal days leaving their work on others.
