McDonalds is shutting down the sale of all fries in coming weeks and no longer offers the product, angering some customers, CNBC has learned.
“McDonalds recently reviewed it’s product offerings and decided to discontinue french fries”, the fast food restaurant said in the six-page letter. The move would let the fast food restaurant focus on it’s core product, hamburgers, it said.
After publication of this article, a McDonalds spokesman gave additional remarks: “We realize change can be inconvenient, especially when customer satisfaction is impacted,” the fast food restaurant said, adding that it was “committed to helping each customer find a competitor that fits their needs.”
The move is a strange one, given that the fast food industry needs to actually sell fast food to boost growth.
