Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

The more wealth I have the less secure I feel?

Why?

Accumulated my first million by 40 (started with $50k debt out of college), doubled it to $2 million by 43 and1 year later I just a few hundred thousand from $3 million. Why am I so fearful of losing my job and ending up in financial ruin?

it's because you've been programmed to shortage/lack mentality. Now that you recognize that old beliefs no longer serve you, you can turn to abundance and knowing that it is a stream you will always be connected to, as long as you are deliberate about it. Let go of the fear, follow the joy and be happy, knowing that you're powerful and have no reasons to be afraid. Don't pinch yourself off by preserving the $. Let it flow through you and expect it to come in as it goes out. Just have fun along the way. What's the purpose of making money if you don't enjoy it. Abundance mindset and appreciation of all the forms of abundance will naturally line you up with abundance. That's how the law of attraction works. You come across as already knowing all this stuff, the last final step is letting go of the fear of the stream drying out. It can't. The world is awash with money.

Inflation can clearly cause economic chaos, but rich people usually don't hold much in cash, and other assets tend to rise in nominal value right along with the inflation, just with a bit of lag, so it's not the threat it's cracked up to be, not for the rich anyway. The group that inflation absolutely ki--s, quite literally, is the fixed income, non-rich retiree/elderly group. They have few options to avoid the impact and they can't just go back to work with inflation-increased wages. That's the group that gets hosed when DC decides to just borrow more and more trillions to buy votes for themselves...err...to "help people."

Multi millionaire here, too. I am also anxious but mostly about things I still can't afford: private jet, a senator, collection of Ferraris, retirement. Work out more and expose yourself to other cultures . It helps

Best guess is 90% or more of what is written here is BS. So who cares if complaining or bragging. No one should believe too much of anything on this site.

I have a friend who got two inheritances and works because she wants to, not because she has to. Besides, the health insurance is cheaper. She could put her hands on a few million tomorrow if she wanted to, the rest is invested and she is a wh-z at finance, smart as he-l. Her bosses know she can say f you any minute and walk away with no worries. She knows they need her more than she needs them.

Difference is, she wouldn’t get on a layoff site and brag while people were losing their jobs. It’s a matter of perspective. Please get some.

Read about Maslow’s hierarchy of needs.

You appear to be unable to progress to self-actualization due to existential anxiety.

Or you just like anonymous internet attention. Either way, you should seek a qualified therapist.

You are fearful because you know if the market crashes your 3 mills will reduce to 1.5 or even less. You lose just as quickly as you gain

@ozl+1bJwwKAj. It’s all about comfort level. 8 mils here and still not completely safe.
Just depends on how you feel not how you need. I can live with less but I still want to be really safe.

Dear Narcissist OP: This is a Layoff Site, not one to boast about yourself. Seek counseling on your raging narcissism from a trained professional.

Maybe you should consider looking at what you do have and be happy. It may sound corny but there is nothing wrong with appreciating just being. Money comes and goes it can be replaced you can't, Maybe stop and smell the roses instead of obsessing over what material things or status can provide. You can't buy the sun rise or tell it when to set, be happy that you have the things you do have and be proud that you worked hard to get them.

Hey, easy there fellas. The guy has a point and it's not fair to treat him like a POS* that he appears to be. He's worried that hyperinflation will reduce his 'wealth' to live a life of abject poverty. Think Zimbabwe. There OP, I got your back buddy.

@xob no kidding. I can't recall how many masters level degree holders I've seen working customer service for Wells.

And little ole me, the uneducated heathen earning more than them and keeping them working.

I doubt this is a serious post, but I do see phd level employees doing nonsense associate level work while people with no bachelors degree lead major implementations.

Education does not correlate to courage, leadership or vision.

Suck it up and be unhappy until you hit $5M...then bail, invest wisely, and relax. Work only when / if you feel like it. That's living the dream right there.

@ora+1bJwwKAj You may be right, but doesn’t make sense because I was really confident and happy when I had nothing. I think this place has institutionalized me to some degree. Thought about therapy but not something I’m willing to do. Feel like it would ki-l the it factor that makes me money, yet the money makes me less happy.

Because you have low self esteem? No confidence so you seek it on an anymonus layoff site? Maybe with that wealth you should spend some on a therapist.

Psychological issue perhaps? Fear of becoming homeless? Going bankrupt? Can relate in today's USA with the extreme housing/rent prices, increases in taxes especially for the very wealthy, sick due to Covid, inflation, job losses. I think you will be just fine with 3 million $. It depends on what debt that you have accumulated and must pay off. Probably stop worrying. Now we others, with less than 3 million in savings, do actually have things to worry about, for sure. Is your post a joke or what?
