Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Are posts being deleted?

It looks like posts are being deleted here. I've commented on a few and do not see them anymore. Some of the posts were created in the past few days. Any thoughts on this matter?

Lots of Bill Daley commentary has been removed, among other topics and comments. Some great poems have been removed too. I guess BR was jealous to see such better poets exist at her own company.

Sometimes it's a fine line between violation of the sites rules around (for example) "racial comments" versus commenting on a companies policies regarding DE&I.

It's very possible that somebody could innocently post on such a topic, and then a different person would see offense in that posting, even though no offense was intended.

Post ID: @tsu+1bIZc2R0 as far as I'm concerned, it is all about me. I don't like to be an aggregate, placed in the right demographic slot, gender, location...etc and be spoon fed a barrage of advertising for the privilege of visiting a site. BTW, most people block that c.rap with AdBlockers and things of that sort. But basically, you are right, we are the product here because it's free and it gives as the illusion of free speech.

Post ID: @sks+1bIZc2R0, exactly, thank you for posting. That is called freedom of allowed speech of some sort.

You mistakenly think it's all about you. It's all about selling advertising and if people keep seeing nonsense posts unrelated to what the site purports to be about, they stop coming back and as page views drop, so does what they can charge per add. It's all about the benjamins.

Short version of the site’s content rules (copy-paste from one of the previous posts here):

  • no foul language
  • no politics
  • no religion/race/ethnicity talk
  • no asking for votes (of any kind - political, union, etc)
  • no threats & violence, bullying, slandering
  • no personal names (ok to name c-suits as they ar public figures, not ok to name a middle manager or an employee)
  • no personal info of any kind (regardless of one’s position)

Post ID: @ufk+1bIZc2R0 as an adult, I can read somebody's post/rant, point of view...etc objectively and make my own opinion and digest the content accordingly. I don't need ANYBODY to make a decision for me and definitely I don't need echo chambers to validate my point of view. Critical thinking, hard to come by these days. I need a safe space...and a puppy

It's an interesting maneuver. The fine print on his donations page said the money folks donated would be used for legal defense so now all that money will be wasted on frivolous lawsuits to keep his name in the news. It is predictable if nothing else.

Yea I see it all the time; one someone put 'Congratulations' only and was deleted

Site is heavily censored to hide that not many people posting. Probably taking down the sites servers, then they go and delete due to not enough space in their storage. Meaning they will only allow approx 20 posts a day per layoff page.

Its a cost cutting measure.

I see the right wingers are pushing the censorship angle again but as their fearful leader is about to sue tech companies for not posting his lies.

Shocking? Nah.

The administrators have standards. No racism, outright lies, etc.

Imagine that.

@hsd+1bIZc2R0 Community standards for social websites, or news sites that allows comments, have existed for a long time. It’s not a so-called woke or cancel culture concept.

“Their house, their rules.” It’s all about the $, since the more racist, crazy, off topic stuff that lingers here, the fewer users they’ll have to see the ads.

The owners of the site don’t want it overrun by ugly racist rants or juvenile bullying.

Go figure.

Pssst it’s a free private site. They can delete whatever they want. Don’t like it, find another layoff site

Yes. Censorship just like google, facecrap, linkedout, twatter, etc. Big Brother in action. If they don't like your posts or the positive (or negative) responses don't meet the message they want to send then they delete the post and entire thread in some cases.

There was one nonsensical post yesterday that was basically just a rant of a lunatic. Appears that one got deleted.

Thank goodness. They have community standards but apparently not all moderators enforce them. Yesterday’s moderator seemed to actually be paying attention. Even if you didn’t violate standards, if you engaged with a poster who did the moderator may have just deleted the whole conversation.

Any thoughts? The moderators delete posts that don't meet their standards. There's not much there to think about.
