Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

How are people giving notice?

My manager rarely interacts with me if there’s not a meeting.

Are people resigning via email or setting up 1:1 meetings or how are people going about this nowadays, remotely?

It's pretty simple. If you have a good relationship with your boss, give him/her a head's up. If not, drop it in the email, and copy your personal email. This is important, because if they say you never gave notice, they can deny things you are entitled to receive. As far as length of notice, it doesn't matter. The old way of doing things is two weeks. Nowadays, you're a commodity. It doesn't matter if you give one hour or one month. Just document that you gave notice.

My boss changed four times in 18 months and my last one didn’t talk to me more than three times in four months and then not much at a time. Of course, he had 40 reporting to him after the last reorganization. Never responded to emails either.

If you look yourself up on Teamworks, you should be able to figure out who you report to.

Hilarious sidebar comment stood out-- this is the reason WF is the big bank loss leader:

"I’m not exactly sure who my boss actually is"

And I'm not mocking the comment -- it's the cluster-f**k management.

Short answer.. do it right.. industry is a network and do the right thing with 2 weeks. I’d didn’t work out and that sucks.

Refer to the handbook but, You will want to email your manager or in lieu of that whoever your identified boss is on temworks with a cc to your assigned hr rep of the hr generic email box.

From there it isnt up to you to worry about it.

You can at will sever whenever you want with no repercussions as long as hardware is returned

I’m waiting until after my mid year review and I’m told I’m getting another poopy raise. After the call I will email the management team in my group (because I’m not exactly sure who my boss actually is) and inform them I quit. I want to say that will be my last day, but I’m a nice guy so I’ll give them two weeks. I hate that it’s come to this. I had high hopes here but the restructure blah blah blah blah.

I didn’t know if a meeting was mandatory or we could just send an email, when the boss is incommunicado most of the time. It’s not like I can just stop by their office, and if I schedule a meeting they know something is up.

I can't believe someone is actually asking this question. You don't know how to quit?

My notice strategy is simple. I'll just stop logging on and they will NOTICE I'm gone!

@cyd....

I havent laughed that hard in a while. Great idea. : )

Let em have care-a-lot. I'm leaving to go back to work.

As for me, I will tend it via email and probably will give them the same amount of notice they give us. Two weeks of non working then sever.

I'm writing my resignation on rainbow paper so that management pays attention and to ensure they write a nice article about me upon my departure.

Seems you have to be in one of the special camps for anyone to care or notice or even to have your opinion taken seriously.

I've already bought the paper.

@tdj - Don’t forget to spike it like you’re in the end zone and do a touchdown dance. Then jump up on the counter and let all the tellers pat you on the back.

Depends on the person, in my neck of the woods usually a call or in-person notification followed by an email to 'make it official'.

Same as always. Write up a transition plan and pick up the phone then follow up with an email so there is a written copy.
