Anyone that's worked in mortgage or pays ANY attention to it knows it's a cyclical business that routinely has waves of hiring and waves of layoffs. Happens every few years, whether the company is in employee growth mode or layoff mode. It's a business completely dependant on rates and demand. When demand dips, look out, layoffs are coming.
