Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Start looking now

I was at Oracle for a little over 20 years, and most of those years were terrific for me. I had zero incentive then to leave Oracle most of those years, as I worked with some of the best colleagues one could work with, was valued by my management and colleagues, and I was growing my technical skills. But the final 2 years for me were utterly miserable. By the time I left Oracle several years ago, it had gotten so bad that I absolutely hated coming in to work nearly each day.

I now work for a company that values my work, pays well, hires super qualified colleagues, offers generous bonuses and stock options, and provides real promotion opportunities. If you're unhappy at Oracle or even just on the fence, I can assure you that there are lots of other companies that will value your skills and would love to have you as an employee. Start looking now, don't wait until the floor drops out from under you at Oracle.

Growing technical skills is difficult on salted ground. You have to carve out the time and money to do it yourself. Oracle won’t help you. Do they still stack old technology on pallets in the hallways? A long time ago when they did that, I permanently borrowed an old but working laptop and taught myself basic VMware.

Why learn anything new when you can just show up every day

People like this are yet another reason not to work at Oracle. These people are part of the problem, lazy-a-s-kissers who have no idea what real work actually is. Way too many of these at Oracle; they simply weigh the ship down.

Oracle is a waste of your time.

Qualified colleagues would be nice, even if nothing else. It is absolutely OK to work here and have no clue about what our competitors are doing in the real world. Why learn anything new when you can just show up every day (virtually - even better!), bang on a keyboard for a bit and collect a paycheck. Growing technical skills seem too uncomfortable for many. It is just not something that is promoted as part of a company culture, so why bother? Amazon has bar raisers, Oracle has a-s kissers.

Well I been here longer and love my job. So long su---r

This is the reason it is no longer worth working at Oracle. Rats are running the show now. You are not valued, you are USED for the benefit of scumbags who think of you as a su---r and a dope.
