COE structure for corps comms

I was “mapped” to one of these. Not kidding when I ask if someone can please explain them and how they will work? I’m trying to quickly figure out how fast I need to get out or just wait and see. But the whole “still working through details” part doesn’t really cut it for my and my personal/professional strategy.

Centers of Excellence, a.k.a. “COEs” are even worse than that. It is commonly a grouping of like roles prior to a reorganization and more importantly, an outsourcing of roles… generally offshore.

It is a sure sign that 20% of you will have meaningful work. you will train your replacements or will not receive severance.

You would think the “details” would have been worked through before upending people’s lives and destroying them through ki----g their jobs.

The simple explanation for a COE is that it's a temp employment firm within a company, that sends temps out to various parts of the company that need the skills that COE is specialized in.

Before one of you complains about managers for “not knowing anything” here’s a clue: We are in the dark too. Do not go there.

Let’s be clear about something with the Corp Comms centers of Excellence. You don’t have any details BECAUSE THERE ARE NONE. You are moving into this job and you have no idea what it is? Join the club! Not even BR knows what your job is! There are no job descriptions. No plans for the COE’s. No one knows what they are going to do. She’s trying to figure out how to placate all the mad OC members who are now discovering this joke of a model will impact them. She is also discovering that surprise groups that she cut support from actually need support. Don’t have a boss? Join the club! Many of us don’t and we won’t have one most likely until August. Meanwhile she’s telling us to be “patient” and “wait for the details. Lady, you have been on the job FOR NEARLY A YEAR. This all should have been figured out weeks ago. So get comfy. Enjoy your year end review because it’s gonna suck when you are told you didn’t achieve your goals when you had zero idea what your job was. Be like the rest of us and look for a way out. She doesn’t value you anyway. The impact of her total incompetence is now going to come down on us. Thanks, BD for hiring the worst leader ever.

Appreciate the interpretation for COE. Sounds like another name for the new Regional Centers established for core market segment in comm'l and the specialty areas. Wf losing a lot of talent and institutional knowledge as these centers get established. Work load is tremendous, employees are segregated. Hard to develop talent in the field.

I was displaced last Thursday from Corp Comms, and while it was somewhat of a shock and kick in the gut for the hard work and very late hours and weekends I have worked for wf, I’m trying to see if as a stepping stone in my career.
I am highly skilled in production and seeing so many friends and coworkers displaced was very tough, some having given over 20 years of their life’s work to wf. Seems that the new structure will be farming out a lot of the work, done by these displaced workers, to outside agencies including br’s former agency.
It’s the same old same old of higher ups hiring their business friends to generously pad their own pockets and intimidate workers still employed, until the news gets out to the public that wf is just as corrupt as ever. By then these higher ups will have bulging bank accounts and can afford to retire, whether in disgrace or not.
While I am hurt about being displaced, I am glad to be out of that rat race. I have met and worked with so many wonderful people that I wouldn’t have otherwise. That is what I am taking with me on going forward. Everyone at wf is seen as a cog in the machine and the new administration cares very little, if not at all, about the people that do the actual work. Just look how many new high paying managerial positions they are hiring on a daily basis. Fire the people who do the actual work and pad the pockets of those “managing” the new structure. It’s sickening and going forward, I vow to find a job that helps people and doesn’t profit off hard working people’s money that they rightfully earned.

This is another retread being rolled out once again. Ends up creating duplication of effort with no one taking ownership for any problems that turn up....and problems will come up. Just adds costs and no improvement ever results from these exercises.

I'd be polishing my resume and looking for a new opportunity elsewhere...better paths out there, I promise.

COE = Center Of Excellence. If you Google it you’ll find lots of explanations.

Please explain what COE stands for? Is it a subcontractor providing employees to WF?

The people driving the move for COEs did the same thing at JPM (DO, MN, et al). My personal experience with it was mixed. Being in a COE detaches you from the business, so that’s a negative. On the the other hand, you’ll hopefully be grouped with people across the organization with similar roles, which can open the door for more opportunities.
