Looks like a bunch of EA folk (Technology) have been given notice to be displaced. Surprising since they just got a new Chief Architect. WOW!

With Hogan from the 70s and homegrown web from the late 90s, it’s nice to see us get a new Chief Architect. The dirty little secret is that when you’re in a situation as bad as we are, you have to pay the existing software developers to help modernize it. Nobody except original developers can fathom spaghetti code.
This is why I believe that Charlie is here to cut the Wells problem down to size for the good of the U.S. financial systems. Even the lamest programmers can organize data to convert out to other banks or Fintechs. Fintechs can probably quickly adapt to any input format.
Always remember that Charlie is with us at Wells Fargo to solve a problem. That problem is Wells Fargo.
The only difference in the new and old architects is that the newly hired ones have past work experience and connections with Charlie’s new hires. It’s all about padding their pockets. They could care less about anything less, because they know once the public sees what the new management is all about, the ceo and all his cronies will be replaced. History repeats itself, sadly. Too many wonderful people working to pad a snakes pockets.
Yeah - Target went through the same exercise. Get rid of all the architects.

The problem is many enterprise architects are white haired pudgy intellectuals who have not worked a boots on the ground job in decades. They spew out constitutional documents that no one reads. “Solution Architects” are the real world role and are in the trenches with the regular folk. Agile is real world.
@1czo. There can be no real architects in an agile shop. You don’t have time to put any real thought into it.
A lot of people here obviously doesn’t know what a systems architect does. Amazing you still call yourselves tech people, but you love your plug and play coding with no thought behind what you are doing whatsoever. Then you wonder what your systems look the way they do.
These EA roles are part of old waterfall thinking/process where they wanted someone making pretty diagrams for the big waterfall design documents. This has no place in an Agile dev shop. Real architects are in the trenches coding and showing others how it is done.
Enterprise Architecture, where not even half the staff are Architects, most are tech secretaries.
