Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Product Owner

How good/du–b is your Product Owner?
Does he even have great understanding of the application or keep asking silly question all the time?
What is the expectation from a product owner?
Shouldn't he come up with user stories at times?
Specially those under WF Auto.

Asks silly questions about systems that went obsolete during the clintan administration? I can see how that would be frustrating.

Same. My po has been here for almost a year and has no idea what we do all day. I don't think he even used the application before.

Wait. You mean to tell me that auto has a "product"? And this person "owns" it?

Well a good PO is measured over time by the representation they bring for both IT and the business to any decision making or ideation. This is true as you inferred, yes. Ultimately though, it is their ability to learn and adapt on the fly and apply common skills to their discipline around seeing the big picture, integration issues, placing themselves in the shoes of the customer as usability becomes a deliverable during a sprint, and ultimately the ability to talk with sponsors and executives.

These things are the rarities they bring or should bring to any project. I have been parachuted into projects when they were half done and been forced to have these potentially embarrassing meetings where you have to admit to a business sme you dont understand a key deliverable.

I would only wirry if they stop asking questions and are messing up. Its extremely difficult to do well. Especially in a hybrid PM methodology like WF has.
