Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Morale issue

So I am a new grad joined WF last year through a campus program. Interestingly, when I talked to my peers in the same class, quite a few of them mentioned that they started looking for jobs already. Is that really what the management want? A really high turnover of the talents? I think the morale is really an issue here.

Not sure where some of you work in the bank or even if you actually work for the bank but we are using new technology. It just depends on what group you are in.

Don’t let a message board influence your decision. I work here and I like it, great benefits and our team is great.

Looks like you have some competent people in "leaders in sales and finance".
Are they hiring?

Most hired because it checks a box for diversity, for "show", and some have connections. I know for a fact some were hired because they were "hot" as I heard directly from a couple of different leaders in sales and finance. Some are actually really good while others have no skills and walk around co▯▯y at an unbelievable level.

typically people out of college have no skills, so I would say your lucky to have any job

Another thought is that you won’t be able to learn any transferable skills here or gain experience on a system that any other company uses, since the processes and technology are from the 1980s. Experience on BETAHost, to which multiple WFC specific programs have been added to make it half-way functional along with many manual work-arounds, isn’t going to make you a hot commodity in today’s job market.

If you can look at the bright side, the hardest job to get is the first one out of college, and you did that. You now have time to figure out your next move because you’re not worried about making rent. If you’re not in an office, it’s easier to interview because there’s less drama about why you take a two hour lunch break and come back wearing a suit, because it’s all on Zoom now. Don’t worry about morale and don’t try to figure out what management is thinking. Figure out what is best for you.

Yes get out now. It’s heartbreaking to see young talented people come in here and get stuck in some call center or processing job. WFC gives a crummy job an interesting title, like Investor Liaison or Trading Assistant, but it’s really just a mind-numbing call center.

Wells considers employees to be interchangeable and dispensable. The next years are going to be brutal. It’s NOT like this everywhere. Unless you want to be demoralized and have your souls crushed, I would never in a million years recommend that a young fresh mind come work at this toxic waste dump of a company. And to the minorities who think they are missing out by not getting a job here: believe me -it’s a blessing in disguise. They will put you in some entry-level job and let you rot there. I’ve seen it happen time and time again.

There is more to life than just your paycheck. Get a job at a company where you can grow, thrive, learn, advance, have ethical mentors and build a career. Best of luck.

I would say you and your friends have unrealistic expectations of corporate America.. less than a year of experience and you're looking for greener grass? Good luck. The first 3-5 years in the workforce is quite a culture shock from the college experience and you have to learn the ropes. It can be rough but builds character and work ethic. If it's not for you, then leave but don't expect better elsewhere. They pay new grads way more than when I started. my first job here out of college I was happy to make 40k..

yes they want you to go, so go now before it gets worse for you. you should do your research before you join a company, ones with the dirty history and financial issues, you should never join. Try to join a company that has at least some success and your workplace will be much better for you and your friends.

Fraud or not, this is a pretty accurate post on the current state of morale and how management is trying to drive people out.
