Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

Retail SMB?

Why were they moved to a different channel? Seems like they’re in a bad spot. Most of the reps relied on retail and now that retail has no real incentive these smb folks are getting exposed.

It’s funny how they want us to give all these SMB leads and then SMB specialists want to play the victim when they don’t want to do their job and help the stores they are assigned. I have overheard and been on SMB calls in my area and all I hear from the manager is excuses as to why they can’t do things. I get they are loaded with multiple tasks but don’t give us a quota and also ask for business leads to be submitted for R2B specialists if they can’t handle the work! You either take it all and give it to them and don’t hold the store accountable or you put them in the store and make them deal with business customers. I’m just so sick of hearing all the excuses as to why so many ba––s are dropped on deals VBG is literally HANDED! If I hand you a qualified lead and I know it’s not bu–––––t and you can’t close it because you don’t follow up on it with the customer, I and the store shouldn’t have to suffer.

They basically made that position as miserable as B2B but without the B2B pay and module. They are literally turning everything into a B2B type of role. Look what they are doing to the Solutions Architects too. They all are basically BAM adjacent now.

Agree w last comment, stay far far away from the SMB role, they shove metrics down your throat while asking you to fit 100 different things into your 8 hour work day and then you have to handle everything from stores and join long winded calls in between only to be told you’re not doing enough and sorry you make less than sales reps now. And make sure you sell a million different things to each small landscaping company or that mom and pop plumbing company that works out of their house, such as blue jeans video calling. I don’t regret leaving AT ALL such a terrible job

Lucky to get out of SMB mid way through last year. Best timing ever. SMB was horrid and I would steer clear of that position for the foreseeable future.

On behalf of every retail smb rep, we want out. This job has become the worst position in the company it’s never enough, quotas always going up, pressure insane, pay minuscule, reps don’t want anything to do with any business so they throw every customer on our lap to deal with on top of all the other c––p they make us do everyday

Might get better for them getting back into stores a couple days a week and as things open. If you were R2B during covid and your still working for the company. Hats off you deserve a medal. That was a terrible job during covid. Would you like some Blue Jeans with your order?

They moved them to the Channel Sales organization which is all of the partner sales; basically all of VZ Indirect partners. How would Retail SMB fit there? That is a direct channel
